depends on your reason for tracking and what you wanna get out of it..
I track my steps at work, because i wear a fitbit and it jsut tracks all day long, and i participate in step challenges with friends.
If i didn't wear a fitbit i wouldn't track steps, i'd just set my MPF activity level to whatever my average activity level is, and probably not track steps.
sometimes when i'm not tracking steps daily, i'll put on a tracker if i go on a long hike just to see how many steps i took. Its all just purely informational, how and when you tracks depends on what you want to do with that info.1 -

For me the point of having an activity tracker is to track all my steps throughout the day no matter what I'm doing. It goes on as soon as I wake up and gets taken off when I go to bed.1 -
If you're counting steps in general, all steps count whether you intentionally went for a walk or you got them at the grocery store/work/walking to the kitchen/etc.
If you're not constantly wearing a pedometer, though, I wouldn't log steps from work as exercise, I'd just raise my activity level.1 -
cheers for the answers.I wear a fitbit all day and i am also raising my activity after another flare up of athritus if thats how you spell it0
