Hi all,

I have this problem staying within the contraints of the carb allotment I'm given per day, but the majority (About 85%) of the carbs usually come from my fruits, vegetables and dairy. Is over-doing any of these paticularly bad for weightloss? Thanks =)

i am a believer in "natural" eating. Eating what cavemen ate. They ate no grains or processed foods, or dairy(i guess this would be processed foods). I do put cheese on food, so i do consume dairy sometimes.

You should try almond milk. I've recently substituted my fat free milk for this and it tastes just fine. Low on carbs and calories too.

Hi there! I believe that carbs play a massive role in weight loss. I am currently following the primal diet - I have now lost 10kg with little excersise effort! (I am NOW bumping up my excersise to continue losing weight). The primal diet is based around the carb curve, where you need to eat between 50-100 carbs a day to be in the weight loss sweet spot.

I know that there are many diets out there but you need to find the one that works for your body - for my body it is the primal diet - it might be worth having a look into?

Best of luck, let me know how you get on :)

Whether paleolithic peoples ate dairy or not is actually a point of debate. Right now there is evidence for either viewpoint. Regardless, some versions of a paleo diet allow it and some don't. Personally, I avoid any dairy products containing sugars, like milk and nonfat / lowfat yogurts. But I use quite a bit of cheese as a topping / flavoring, and often add cottage cheese to a soup or casserole dish, and I'll eat a little Greek yogurt with some berries, instead of ice cream, when I'm having a sweet craving.

To answer your question, is this bad for weight loss? I don't think so. I think the most important thing is eating plenty of protein & not too much sugar or carbs. And dairy products fit into that category, for the most part. That is what has worked for me, anyway. Everyone's metabolism is different, you just have to find what works for you.

If the vast majority of your carbs are vegetables, fruits, with some dairy, you're doing fine. You can also look at what percentage of your diet is carbs versus protein, fats and tweak a bit to find what amount works for you.

Dairy is not a "bad" food. It's an excellent source of protein. It can be high in calories. You can make adjustments to how much you're consuming if you're struggling to stay within your calories for the day.

I don't think so. But I think with anything, moderation is good. But, honestly, if you are doing well with what you are doing I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks! I am usually fine without milk, but I cannot give up greek yogurt for some reason. I get the 0% MF kind and usually sprinkle a few berries in because it's too sour on its own for me. I eat bread sometimes, but not very much, same with pasta.. and I LOVE oatmeal, which is another thing I couldn't entirely give up.
