I rarely drink, maybe once every few months. Today's such a gorgeous day, I'm thinking about going out with my fiance to a cool outdoor restaurant/bar and maybe getting a few beers while we listen to some live music. I just don't want to sabotage my work. Any suggestions on beer or drinks on the lighter side?

Hahaha, definitely not. Maybe a few beers with an order of salad1 -
White wines such and Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay are about 100-110 cals per restaurant pour (5oz). You stretch a glass if you order a slightly sweeter white wine like a Riesling and a glass of club soda and make a spritzer. Ask for some lemon and lime wedges with the soda for a pretty presentation.
Vodka and club soda clocks in under 70. I really like vodka soda with a splash of cranberry (around 1 oz) and a lime wedge. Some higher end flavor vodkas have the same cals/sugars as regular vodka. Diet soda with flavored vodka works too (I like Absolute Peach or Mango with diet sprite but not all bars have diet sprite/7up/Sierra Mist).
Tequila and club soda with the juice of half a lime is also good but it is not at all sweet and you must use good blanco tequila.
Otherwise go for a Michelob Ultra or whatever the lightest beer you like is.3 -
How have you done this week eating-wise? Were you a little under some days? I look at my calories on a weekly basis. If I want to have a couple beers, I might eat 100 calories under for a couple few days to bank for the occasion. Can't deprive yourself for this to work long term, so go out and enjoy the atmosphere and the company, have a reasonable dinner, and keep on keepin' on. Cheers!5

Guinness is surprisingly low calorie. I've been enjoying various Gose style beers recently (primarily Anderson Valley Brewing Co. goses, and an occasional Sierra Nevada Otra Vez which is also a gose) -- they are crisp, sour-y ales and typically low alcohol (4.2 - 4.6% IIRC) which also makes them relatively low cal. Much better, IMHO, than saving an extra 15 - 25 cals and settling for something like a Coors light2

Just budget accordingly. Go for a lighter option or something filling. I have a beer nearly every day and hitting my fitness goals. If you get close to going over switch to club soda and lime....or just go over today and make up for it tomorrow. We need these breaks from time to time.3

Here is a list of beer and calories.

So, Bud Light is 110cals and Guinness draught is 126 calories. I know which one I would choose (hint, it isn't the one that's like making love in a canoe).1 -
any hard liquor you like with club soda and/or ice and a twist of lemon2

I go with vodka sodas (as in soda water...not tonic, which has the same cals as regular soda). I ask for two lime wedges, which I think makes it taste good and refreshing, especially with a decent vodka. If you're not a hard alcohol person, wine isn't a bad option.2

Another vote for vodka with club soda and lime.
I also drink red wine a lot slower than I drink white wine, so if I'm trying to watch my calories, I usually opt for red because I can make the serving last longer.
Edited to Add: This chart was part of another discussion on beer but it might help you with a rough estimate based on oz and ABV.

If you like spirits, ask for a light (1/2 shot) vodka and soda with lime-- I like Titos--, that's about 40 cals. I got away with that tonight at my own party. So 4-5 drinks was really only 2 shots spread over 4 hours. I'm determined to stretch a small bottle of Titos thru may!!2

I live in New Orleans....so drinking, I know lol. I stick with clear liquors....vodka is my go to, but if you don't want something that hard I stick with white wines. I still manage to lose weight and I drink a few times a week, either way chances are if you're counting the calories you will be fine2
