Make your own weights

I don't have access to a gym(I'm a nanny living in an expensive area), so I have been making my own weights with water bottles, filling them with sand from the beach. I don't have a weigh scale and only weigh myself about once a month to make sure I am on track since I mostly go by how my clothes fit, and measurements. I was curious if someone could do me a favor and maybe fill a 1.5 litre, or even a 750ml water bottle with sand and weigh it for me, so that I could have an idea how much I am lifting. A bit of an odd request I know lol but it would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks!

    > 1 liter of sand= weight?
Different sands have different densities. Measure the sand you
intend to use. Finer grained sands of the same type will weigh more
than coarser grained sands. The finer grain allows the particles to
pack closer together. Coral sands will be lighter than quartz sands
of the same particle size. Wet sand is a lot heavier than dry sand.

    Range: 1 to 2 kg/liter

This is what I found on http://papercreters.blogspot.com/2008/08/papercreters-re-weight-vs-volume.html

Hope that helps like it says it depends on the sand you use, good luck, I'd say it's about 5 pounds
