I'm 4"11 40 years old and have a desk job and I weigh 95 pounds when I put maintain weight in mfp it gives me 1200 calorie a day when I put lose .5 pound a week it gives me 1200 a day when I put gain .5 pound a day it gives me 1400 calories a day guess I don't understand thanks in afvance

    Yes 1200 is the default lowest MFP will give, because most people can't healthfully and eat less than 1200 calories.

    Because you are small and sedentary, MFP is determining that your maintenance is 1200, and since 1200 is the minimum it will give anyone it won't give you a deficit.

    Having said that, the MFP goal does not include any exercise so you are expected to log your exercise and eat those calories back. So logging exercise will give you more calories to eat.

    You might want to try plugging your numbers into a TDEE calculator to get a sort of second opinion and get an idea of your goal without that 1200 min getting in the way.

    If to gain .5 pound the goal is 1400 cals - then to maintain is 250 cals less than that. However that does take you just below the recommendation of 1200 cals so ... eek.
