I've lost nearly 50 pounds.. I'm tall so it shows well, I'm told. Everyone says that I look thinner and I know by the fact that my measurements indicate that I could fit into a size 14... However I CANNOT picture shopping for anything less than an 18.. I look in the mirror and see little change from my 245 pound self.. It's weird. It's like in my mind I see the same person though I've apparently changed.

Know what I mean¿

practice makes perfect. it's a skill, and you have to condition your mind to catch up with your body. i'm down right now from an 18 to a 14 or 16, depending, and when i look at these sized clothes i think, 'there's no way i can get my butt into that!' i imagine this will get worse the smaller i get. just work on your perception - you'll get there, and congratulations on your success!

I know what you mean, I have only lost 20 lbs and get the same response from people and my clothes fitting. But I still see the same me!! You just have to trust what other people see and the fitting of your clothes. Our minds play tricks on us. Dont mislead yourself. Be proud of what you have done!!

Do you have any before pictures you could compare yourself to?

A co-worker of mine lost a lot of weight, but kept wearing her "big" clothes. She REALLY looked like she needed new clothes. But, she still wasn't comfortable in smaller sizes yet.

Honey, I've been a 14/XL for so long it's still freaking me out to buy a top in a size M and have it fit... not to mention the size 6 shorts I just bought!!! Holy crap, how did I get small????? I know it was hard work, but it's still wierd to see myself that small. Getting used to it is kind of fun though... have to admit it!!! Oh, and I'm only 5'2", so being small should come easy, but it doesn't!!!

I've lost forty pounds but at 5'3 I don't think it's very noticeable despite the fact that people have noticed a difference and the clothes keep getting loose. I'm anxious because I want it to be a drastic and very noticeable difference. Comparing before and after pictures does help me stay motivated though. =) Good luck!

You're not a weirdo at all! I have found that I'm doing the same thing now. For the first time in over 10 years I don't need to wear a plus size, but when I go shopping that's the section I always head too. I'm not used to being a smaller size and I don't see myself as average....I never have been. It's a difficult transition to make, but we'll all get used to our smaller sizes eventually.

I am so with you, and it sounds like everybody else! I still see the same old me. I am 5'10 and have lost 38lbs~10ish more to go. I was a size 18 and can now get my rear into a size12-14. I can't remember the last time I could do that, but I still see the same overweight me I have been for years. I guess our brains just take time to catch up with the rest of us. But it is so nice to get into a large instaed of an XL! Congrats on your weight loss and keep up the good work!

I'm definitely the same way. I'm now a size 8-ish and I was a size 16-ish. I've conditioned myself for so many years to not even think about the cuter smaller sizes because I'm just setting myself up for disappointment and self loathing. It's hard to convince myself that I can now wear those smaller sizes.

I'm now an XS in scrubs I wear for work. But I still wear XL scrubs to work most of the time even though they're literally falling off.someday I will be able to concince myself that this weightloss is not all in my head.
