Finally realised that losing weight is not something I can do on my own... since my boyfriend is away for most of the month or all depending, I need something that will motivate me to continue and this is just what I have been looking for...
Any tips or ideas are welcome!

Hi I'm Kiel. You are welcome to add me as a friend. Also an easy way to lose weight is to cut the amount of carbs your having. For example if your having around 360g of carbohydrates (carbs) a day. Try get it down to around 280g0

Since you do have a username you had the opportunity to set up your statistics with your truthful current weight and your ambition of weekly weight loss as well as your target goal of losing weight. Most folks don't realize how danged hard it is to lose 2 lb per week and they get all frustrated, so first off I suggest you go back and change that to 1 or 0.5 lb per week.
Other than that, you do you. Your likes and favs are unique to you and your problem is that you eat too much of it. Get a digital kitchen scale and learn to weigh everything. One of the simplest things for me in this regard was to just decide that if a 'serving' of rice was 1/2 cup cooked, I was going to go to 1/3 cup and just do that. Since that preceded my purchase of a digital scale, I looked up the grams of a cup and found something that caused me to decide that ever more my 'portion' of rice and beans was going to be 87 grams each. Over time, it adds up. I didn't even notice the missing 1/6 cup every day.
Weigh meats raw. Use https://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list to find THE TRUTH about nutrition. You can cut and paste from the titles of those listings into the food database here to find actual truthful database listings. That's a good way to avoid the problems of years and years of users putting goofy inaccurate stuff into the database.
If you need to convert units, use www.convertunits.com It's awesome.
Weigh pasta, rice, and oatmeal dry.
Learn to use the recipe tool. The "old" recipe tool is better so use it.
Other than that, just hang out in the community forums, read the success stories, and use the search tool for things like "recipes" and "protein list" as well as "Oreos" and "pulled pork". There's lots of good stuff here.1 -
Yeah, great information from JeromeBarry. Weighing everything is a must. There are many places you can go online to get your BMR (basal metabolic rate), TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). Do a Google search for TDEE, use a calculator, and determine how many calories you need to be at per day. It will take a while to get things tweaked and working, but you should be able to lose 1-2 lbs per week if you get calories right.
This is why weighing food is so important. We need to be exact with amounts.0
