Shift work and healthy eating

I mostly work a weird 1.45pm to 11.15pm shift with a 3 hour commute (both ways). As a result I tend to get up at 10, and never get to bed before 1.30 am. The problem is at night, especially when I get home, I am hungry. But what would be healthy to eat so late? My last meal is usually around 6pm and I can't seem to get through til the morning without eating. Any advice?

Unless it messes with your sleep it doesn't matter what you eat when as long as you're in a overall deficit for the day/week. I sometimes have some oatmeal with peanut butter and strawberries late in the evening if I'm hungry and I have the calories for it. I find that it fills me up in a way that doesn't disturb my sleep.1

Anything that is healthy to eat early in the day, is healthy to eat late in the day. Space out your meals to fit your schedule. Take in the recommended amount of calories. Adjust intake as needed to real results (body weight) gathered over time.1
