so, not an amazing bank holiday weekend food/drink wise.
a litre of vodka over the few days did not help wise food choices.
but....
Saturday - cleaned house and tidied garden a bit and got 13 minutes of planking done
Sunday - did Pilates and played squash league game and won. Got another 13 minutes of planking done. Also started C25K - loving it (very impressed with this day's movement after the amount of vodka imbibed the previous day)
Monday - did BodyCombat and BodyPump classes before Yo Sushi
weight has stalled since before Easter holiday - but feeling good! (can still pull on work trousers without undoing them - makes me less fussed about the scale!)
and....although I dislike change, I have decided to swap my swim on a Tuesday morning for the C25K run and my weights. It was getting so I didn't have any time and this way I get an evening free.14 -
Bony knees. Who knew!22

Just found out today that the battery in the scale needed replacing... Went down 2.4 pounds in one day! Ha! This is mostly a PSA to change your scale batteries but also an NSV because I didn't let a weight stall get me down. I actually was more motivated than ever to keep truckin. And it ended up paying off in the end31

Soooo...yesterday was a bit of a bummer, but I thought I was dealing with it fine.
Woke up this morning and felt BLAH.
On the drive to work I pass multiple fast food chains, Sheetz (convenience store), and a Dunkin Donuts.
I was feeling sorry for myself and pulled in to the Dunkin Donuts. I had in mind a sticky apple cinnamon thingy they used to make - I don't even know if they still make it. I approached the door with the "Screw it - I want this" attitude. Sitting outside the doors at the tables I saw a very large, very unhappy looking woman smoking and eating a box of munchkins.
It gave me pause.
I went inside thinking, okay so I'll have the reduced fat blueberry muffin instead - I like those.
The young woman at the counter waiting for her order was frazzled. She was having what I call a toddler-challenge and it was causing her clothes to twist and to expose more of herself than she probably liked. I guesstimate she was my size when I started this journey, but she was significantly shorter than me.
Pause #2
Staring at the goods. Not sure what to do now.
The store workers were all moving like busy bees, but I noticed they were all on the heavy side.
I would be too if I had that stuff staring me in the face everyday.
They are there because they need a job.
Why am I here?
Do I want to start down this road?
Do I really think this donut/muffin/calorie laden confection is going to solve the fact that I have self-worth issues this morning?
Turned around and left.
Got to work 10 minutes early. Made a cup of tea, got out a peanut butter and dark chocolate Kind bar and settled in to start the day.
NSV - Awareness. The victory is not that I didn't buy and eat a donut. The victory for me is that I stopped and was reasonable instead of proceeding on emotion and impulse.
*Please don't take my comments about the woman smoking or the toddler mother as judgmental. It was not meant that way at all - more that it prompted me to think about my journey and did I want to go backwards.96 -
Yesterday I did not eat any of the desserts provided my work in the afternoon (cheesecake/cupcakes/brownies/cookies)- and this morning, I turned down donuts a colleague brought in as a gender-reveal for her baby! I thanked her and spoke to her about her baby (it's a boy) but politely turned down the donuts. Two days in a row, something I would never normally do (in the past). I am right there with you, @Lucy175233

I put on a shirt the otherday thay was previously too tight. It was loose !22

There was one lonely cupcake sitting next to the coffee machine at work yesterday. It was the last one. I love cupcakes. No, thats wrong. I love the icing on cupcakes. I can walk away from cheesecake, donuts, chocolate, and many other things, but cupcakes are a struggle. But yesterday I looked at it and decided it just wasn't worth it.
And @Lucy1752, I don't think you're being judgemental at all. Why would you want to emulate someone who is practicing the same behaviours that you have worked so hard to change? On the other hand, if I see an overweight person at the gym who is is working hard, it inspires me to work hard too.27 -
I tried on a smaller pair of pants and they fit! Nicely!19

This weekend we were at a waterpark and I didn't feel the constant need to hide myself while in my swimsuit like I used to. It was so nice to just have fun and enjoy the day without the constant paranoia that everyone is staring at my chubbiness. Hopefully when I reach my GW I will even be able to feel that comfortable in a bikini.26

Down a belt notch! 2 more to go before I need a new belt (or maybe just a new notch)21

I pulled on my size 10 jeans this morning without even thinking about it. A few weeks ago my thought was "How much will these squeeze by belly today? What shirt can I wear with these jeans that won't show my muffin top?" Today, no questions. I just got dressed.33

Yesterday was May day and I came home to see a mayday basket of candy my husband had gotten at the senior center. Even though it had some of my favorite kind of caramels in it I was able to not have some and again this morning resisted the urge to have even just one.
Yesterday I got up and checked the weather forecast just after 6 and saw if I was going to get a bike ride in it was going to have to be soon. So got out and got 4 plus miles in before it started to rain at 7:02 am. Did an extra loop or two on my street to get to 5 miles even though it was raining.
Started this years Pedal off the Pounds program last night, this year as a leader and am excited to be a part of this program again.
Just returned from vacation last week and was down about 1/2 a pound since we had left. did a lot of walking but also ate out all the meals so wasn't sure what the result would be.

Thursday - passed on lunch out.
Friday - passed on 'Donut Friday' at work.
Saturday- Mexican dinner out...not one chip for this gal, spinach and steak salad with balsamic vinegar.
Sunday - My Sunday for donuts at Church....yep! Passed those too!
Finally feeling some control41 -
I walked to and from the dentist's office today at about a 14 minute mile pace, getting there in about 10 minutes. I remember when it took me about 1/2 hour to get there if I walked and I frequently drove. Today was so easy!24

I got 2 tinder matches this weekend that weren't bots lol41

Coworkers brought in pizza and offered me some. It was veggie supreme (but no mushrooms!) so I took a slice, logged, added some pepper flakes, and made it last. There were pieces left over, but I declined a second slice, and then when offered the last piece declined that as well.
Back in the day I would have gladly eaten three or four slices.28 -
Ok I got the pass for the gym for the year. Card reader is programmed and I am at the gym. Did weights then rowed how playing on here while very relaxed biking.19

Yeah, I need to change the battery in my scale too. whenever I tap it to turn it on it says 'lo' and then I have to tap it to turn it on again to weigh myself.4 -
Had a breakthrough moment with my youngest son today. He's age 12 and really doesn't enjoy walking.
When I first started my lifestyle change, I used to walk and it became a family exercise session. So, going back 18 months, he used to moan like anything if we went out for a walk. Really, really moan about having to go. It wasn't pleasant for the rest of us as he'd really rant about not wanting to go.
These days, when he's told that we are going for a walk, he just puts on his shoes and gets ready to go. No moaning at all. When I suggested the walk to the next town (12 miles away) he took a bit of persuading but completed the walk without complaint (even though I know that his feet were hurting; he didn't mention them but he was getting slower and slower with each mile, bless him).
Today I had to take all of the children with me when I walked my daughter to college (a mile) and because I thought we were late, we walked fast. Very fast. My son lagged behind slightly but my daughter got to college on time.
I said to my son that we could walk back at a slower speed - he looked at me in total incredulity and said "WHY? It's only a mile!"
18 months ago, he'd have balked completely at walking a mile and asked why he had to go.
12 months ago he'd have complained and asked if there was a shortcut we could take.
6 months ago he'd have rolled his eyes and got his shoes on.
Today he's saying "It's only a MILE!"
Breakthrough. I am thrilled by his change in attitude.
Although when I suggested walking to the "local" stone circle (a mere 12.1 miles away) he was rather vehement in his refusal35 -
my face is less bloated and puffy; I haven't lost much yet but I can see it there and it makes me feel lots better and prettier and healthier and overall rather amazing29

@Lucy1752 - that is a wonderful story. Very inspirational and a reminder to me to stop and think about what I am actually going to eat - is it worth it? Thanks for sharing!11

I bought a new dress on the weekend... a UK size 12!28

Swam for an hour this morning. 3km. Only one stop of around 10 seconds to let someone pass me.
Shoulders were feeling it at the end but fine now!
been feeling a bit bleh recently what with all the bank holidays and now being back into full work mode so this was a good morning!23 -
I was very upset last night. (read: want to cry myself to sleep, stuff my face until I threw up.) I didn't eat my feelings, which is normally my go to reaction. Instead, I finished my walk, laid on the couch and told myself it was okay to feel this way, that eating wouldn't make that feeling go away, and it wasn't worth letting someone else upset me so much that I undo all of my hard work this week. I made it last night. Now just trying to make it through today.61

Was out shopping this weekend and saw a really great price on jeans but I wasn't in a situation where I could try them on. I was waffling between getting the 12 or the 14. I would have usually grabbed a 16, hoping they would fit but I have made weight loss progress this year and I know that is too big now. I went with the 12 telling myself that I could either bring them back and exchange them or hang on to them until they fit. I tried them on when I got home and they fit!! Comfortably!!!37

Good for you @jdelaroy! I have to remind myself about the bolded part quite often.
Don't give other people that much power over me!12 -

@lucy1752 Thank you. I am still fighting it today. It is so hard to not let your emotions rule your world. BTW I loved your post about your trip for donuts. It was very thoughtful, and I loved seeing how you thought your way out of it. Ooh and one of our vendors brought in donuts for us this morning. So far so good. Day is still far from over though.10
