Find a class - maybe something that specialises in boxing for fitness. If you like it, you can try classes that involve more technique. The cardio workout you will get is incredible and it's equally awesome for stress relief :D

I used to do kickboxing, its not quite the same but still the same kind of male/female ratio I would think.
Dont be nervous, you will kick yourself for not having a go at it sooner.
Im not sure about where you are, but here in Australia most places will let you have a free first lesson to see if you like it before you commit. If you can swing a deal like that do it and try as many different places as you can. Find somewhere that you feel comfortable and that you are being treated well and looked after - it is very very easy to get hurt just by throwing a punch wrong and you dont want to do that.
What have you got to lose by having a go?

I love boxing its amazing - I'm doing it at outdoor bootcamp at the moment so its more like a cardio work out (lots of running & skipping between reps, 1 person holds the pads when the other boxes which surprisingly works a whole host of other muscles). Overall I'm noticed a huge difference everywhere including my abs/tummy!

Try a gym class rather than joining a specialist boxing studio that way you can mix it up with other exercise you know you will like without being committed to a program you mightnt enjoy. Why not give it a go & find out if its for you!

    Good luck.

I got lucky and found a kickboxing class that allowed us to use the gloves, pads and it was a great workout. Some of the clubs have setups like that where you don't actually have to get in the ring and fight people. It was an amazing workout and I loved it. All the jump roping and ab work was fantastic!!

I would totally love to find a class like that again.... my instructor moved out of state, then we moved.. .haven't taken the time to find one by our new house yet.

I've done a few boxercise classes.

One nearly killed me. But it was the most fantastic feeling once you realise that actually, you are still alive...

And the other I found quite boring because it was around 30 minutes of posture training and maybe 10 of anything remotely fun...
