Can you use this app just as a reminder not to eat a specific food?

I want to stop eating so many desserts and I'm using this app as a punishment if I eat beyond my alotted amount.

Does anyone use MFP for a similar reason and do you have any setting reccomendations?

How exactly are you using it to punish yourself?

I use it to make sure I can fit a dessert in.

No punishment required, I enjoy a lovely dessert.

The best punishement for overeating would be to eat and excercie healthy till you burn the calories over the TDEE the day you over eat.

Don't punish yourself: ask a friend to do it.

I knew I liked you for a reason!

OP, I think a little further context would help. I'm not sure how a computer program punishes you. Why can't you have dessert?

It will sometimes give you a little reminder if something is falling outside your macros..

    Uh...what?

    Punish yourself? Dear lawd, why?

Psst: no need to cut out any food for weight loss, you know. Being afraid of eating certain foods/food groups and punishing yourself is a sure way to land into unhealthy ED territory.

    And this:
