Has any one tried to drastically alter a caramel sauce? So the recipe calls for sugar, butter and heavy cream. Has anyone tried to make a caramel sauce with truvia and almond milk? I really like Duncan donuts Caramel iced lattes in the summer months and I am trying to come up with a diy for it to shave a bunch of calories and save some money too.

I have thought about making a dulce de leche with the fat free sweetened condensed milk. It would probably be tasty with coffee! I am not sure how the calories would work out though. You could always just use less caramel.

Also, if you are really only concerned with calories and cost, Walden Farms. This gets pretty good reviews and, although I have not tasted this particular product, I like their other syrups. If you are more concerned about ingredients, as some people are, then this is probably not for you. I don't know where you live, but all of the grocery stores in my area carry at least a few of the Walden Farms products.

Walden farms makes a 0 cal caramel sauce that is REALLY good (amazing actually way better than their other flavors). MyProtein US recently came out with a 0 cal butterscotch as well which isn't bad.

Thanks guys. I actually went out and got the Torani one this morning! I grabbed Smuckers sugar free caramel sauce last night but it still has 90 calories for 2 tbs. I can't wait to make my coffee this afternoon. With only 15 calories from the half cup of vanilla almond milk I think I might add just a bit of vanilla protein powder to it too just to sneak in a few extra grams for very few calories. I am so excited!!!!!!!
