Life Changes, Friend Changes

I'm right in the middle of some major life changes that have been getting me to a healthier place. (Both weight wise and all around smarter choices). However, I've noticed that while shedding the pounds I've shedded some friendships. Most, I see now, weren't really friendships but enablers and I know my life's progress has improved because of it. But a few have left a sting, as they were long relationships and I invested a lot of loyalty and love into them. I can't tell if I'm extra sensitive because of the major body changes or if the Universe is telling me I am better without them in my life right now. It hasn't hindered my eating habits, but the disappointment definitely hinders my gym motivation. Has anyone, or is anyone going through anything similar? Thoughts or support is more than welcome. :0)

I gave up a best friend and a GF about 20 years ago... they complained that I was holding them back... After I moved on...got married started a family... I spotted the ex GF hanging around a DT corner with some notoriety for being an illicit drug market... my former best friend lives alone, with no prospects... a Facebook conversation I had with him indicated that his life was as it was when we were room mates... between that time... I tripled my yearly earnings, got married had a daughter... bought a house... taught part time at a post-secondary school...and have become rather well known in my field of work with a solid reputation. Had my former best friend and GF not decided to make me a villain in their lives... I would have never taken the path I now find myself on.
There is no doubt that not everyone is meant to witness our journey for as long as it lasts. Some are good examples, some are bad... The Creator places people all along our path in order for us to learn and grow. Once they have served their purpose in our lives it is okay to forgive them and forgive ourselves, for their departure or our dismissal... IF we are lucky... we are blessed with true friends that share our journey for decades... it is simply the way "it" works.
This lifestyle change that you have undertaken is bound to shake some chaff from your life... you will encounter more witnesses as you continue... look for the lessons... it is perfectly okay to focus on yourself.9 -
Thank you for such a heartfelt, and empathetic response. You are 100% right...I'm just stuck in the clouds right now, unable to see the light. Thank you for reminding me, not only the light is there, but it is getting brighter the more I work on myself.0

Stacy, you sound like a lovely person. Sadly, people disappoint us, even the ones we love, dearly. Keep being the best version of you, possible and try not to dwell on the past hurts. I know it's far from easy, but keep moving forward and be happy...you deserve it. *big hug*0

How about you keep YOUR religious beliefs to YOUR life? I don't have an imaginary sky daddy because my IQ is higher than 70.
No need to be rude. Not every comment has to be sanitized to fit every one. Why should he be afraid to share how he feels in a respectful, supportive way? Your offensive reaction is the problem, not his beliefs. Live and let live.8 -
Real nice username there on that abusive post...
OP I experienced something the opposite a few years ago - absolutely hated my housemate, and as a result wanted to be out of the house as much as possible. Learned to run as a result. I got much more bolshy about what I ate and when, and she kept away. Solved two problems (my fitness at the time and my hatred of my housemate) at the same time.
Sometimes things like that just fall into place. Not always pleasant, or easy, but certainly thought-provoking.1
