Good luck! I've been messing around Keto for ages. Been doing it seriously for about a month. So far it's been going well although my loss has been patchy. Stepping up my exercise levels (walking and biking) seems to have helped.

Hello! I have been on a ketogenic diet for 2.5 months now and have lost 23 lbs with very little exercise. Everyone is different, of course, but its worked fantastic for me thus far. The biggest thing to remember is to keep your electrolytes up. Besides keto flu, the only time I've felt really awful was when I forgot to take a magnesium supplement for a few days. It's good to be proactive with your supplements. I take magnesium, potassium, and a daily multivitamin. Also, keep your salt levels up. Sodium was hard for me to increase and I still only get about 3000 mg a day (most people recommend 5000 mg). If you have any questions or would like to swap recipes, or just want to check out my diary, feel free to add me! Good luck!

I started Keto on May 1, 2014 too. What is a good way to keep your electrolytes up?

Electrolytes keto eaters need to focus on are sodium, magnesium, and potassium. On a low carb diet, it is especially difficult for us to get potassium and magnesium and these things need to be supplemented somehow. Some people in my keto group use keto specific drink supplements but I just take a vitamin. Being in ketosis also flushes sodium faster so you need to have a higher intake of sodium than someone not in ketosis. If you've been doing keto for 3 years and not feeling gross, you're probably doing a good job keeping your electrolytes balanced. I knew within 2 days when mine were out of whack. However, if you're overly tired or having other weird symptoms, it is likely you are low on electrolytes.
