So it's no secret it gets harder once you hit the big 3-0, priorities change. How do you fit in the gym vs work vs life vs prep. Share your tips right here!

The same way as when I wasn't 30? It's just something I do... Not sure why you think your priorities change at 30, that's not age related imo. Life happens to us all in our own way and you are in a different "place" all the time.
I'm nearly 35 and started studying part time again 2 years ago, on top of normal "life". I still fit training and prep and life in. It's more difficult, but I think most people are more prepared to make sacrifices for what they want as they get older and they feel like they actually know what they want.10 -
For me it's easier despite being in my 30s and a mom of two. I think because I get it now and know exactly what to do.. I know I don't have to workout all day and eat rabbit food to be successful. For me it's all about quality over quantity14

I certainly find that I have less time (husband and being home with 3 kids who are not yet in school) then I did in my 20s. I used to hit the gym before work, then train for marathons after work. Now, I do HIIT workouts for 12-20 minutes eveyday. I try to do it while all my kids are napping but sometimes I have to workout and make it a game for them. Next year my oldest will go to kindergarten and we will bike 4 miles to school and then 4 back twice a day. That will get me 16 miles extra a day and I,ll be pulling a bike trailer with two kids in the back! It took me a while to accept that my workouts would no longer be uninterupted gym workouts but I'm having more fun now.16

Yes, because when you're over 30, you're living your life for other people! I commit to making time for me, and take 4 fitness classes a week---yoga/Pilates. I volunteer to do the house activities that get in extra steps...running down the basement for stuff, walking the dog, taking recyclables/trash out.7

Hold out until 50s/60s? For sure, it gets easier again, if you don't give up.
Seriously, I think it matters what your lifestyle is, and what you see as the obstacles/conflicts. I'm betting you'd see better ideas if you told us whether the challenges for you focus on career, small children, aging parents, sedentary friends, continuing education, and/or . . . ?2 -
My college students are convinced they're the busiest people on the planet (especially this time of the year as the semester ends). The ones who exercise exercise; the ones who don't, don't. Same with folks my age. I don't think there's much more to it than that.6

You find a way. You make time, you make a plan, and just do it. There are different problems for different times in life. Your cardio slows but your physical strength can keep getting stronger. At 50 I can still be a superman. People complain about not having time. Puhlease, you make time, you don't find it.13

Yeah, you just make a way.. I'm married with 4 children and I work outside of the home... still get my fitness on Every day, no matter what. It takes a bit of juggling and assigning time slots for hubby and older brother to watch kids some days - when the littles aren't going with me or I'm not working out at home, or they aren't still at school... juggle, juggle, plan, plan... make it work.... no matter what.4

For the 22 years I had kids around home, I would get up at 4:15, eat something, pack lunch and drive to the gym so I was there when it opened at 5 during the week. I'd work out for a bit over an hour, shower, drive 45 miles to work and be at my desk by 7:15. Even with the kids out of the house, I'm still on the same schedule. Very little interrupts your workout at 5AM.
Allows you to workout and not miss family time.

It's a priority, and mine are as follows.
1: work
2: diet
3: training
4: recovery
5: everything else2 -
Elimitate all non-work related screen time. Will free up time for most people.15

Staying fit at 37 has been easier for me, b/c I drink way less booze and WANT to be asleep by 8:30pm.14

If its a priority in your life you will make time. Sacrifice a tv programme/social media for a workout theres got to be at least an hour a day of one of those that can be cut.2

How bad do you want it? If you want it bad enough...you will find the time. As for the big 3-0??!! LMAO...just wait3 -
I think it's the lifestyle changes that usually come with age that can make fitness a challenge. Jobs, marriage, children, etc. It's easy to let go of one's fitness when there are other people to think of & new responsibilities to deal with. But, you are important, too. So, if staying fit is important make it a priority.
I had just joined a gym for the first time at 30, I was single. I went 3x a week and was in good shape. Then, got out of shape with marriage, house & child. Basically, I didn't make myself a priority. Now, I'm 48, workout at home so I can still keep up with my responsibilities & am in the best shape of my life.6 -
Definitely need to get up super early to get my cardio in and prep meals before kids wake up in the morning. If you really want to make a change in your body than some sacrifice needs to be made. Thank goodness for coffee for that fasted cardio in the AM0

I figured while i squandered my 20's raising young kids and not taking care of myself I owe it to my 30's to do better. I find it easier now than in my 20's tbh0

I'm actually happier about my achievements so far in my 30s (just entered the department not too long ago ) compared to any single year in my 20s. I don't feel lower metabolism nor lower motivation, and the results are actually greater/better. Maybe because I finally learned the right way to do things?!
The only difference I noticed is I can't really go to bed late and expect an OK morning the next day... even with same amount of sleep. But I'm a morning person by nature and don't usually do late-night activities anyway~1 -
It honestly never crossed my mind that it would be different after 30 and it honestly doesn't feel any different now that I am 30 other than that I've learned more about how to go about it without driving myself nuts.0

Sell your children for medical research - you get more free time and the money can be spent on fitness equipment.
Every decade has different challenges and priorities, you adapt and overcome if you want it badly enough.
A lot of my colleagues "don't have the time" but seem to watch an awful lot of TV....
In my 30's with young children my time got squeezed so I exercised mostly in my lunch breaks or fitted in some high intensity / short duration work when I could. Gave up my Sundays to support my son's rugby playing but instead of standing on the sidelines with a bacon roll and a coffee I became a coach and ran around with the kids.
My 50's have been my best decade for fitness in many ways, children are grown up and I get much more me time but you still need the drive to use the time rather than waste the time. I'm often the last one in the gym at closing time but I still get the "you're lucky" or "it's easy for you" comments.

I was in the best shape of my life in my mid-30s. That was when I was cycling 1200 km randonnees plus a whole lot of other cycling.
Now in my 50s, I'm building my distances back up again.0 -

the only difference, now well past 30, is that I can't recover as quickly.
30 ain't old; no sir! It's not.

life will always try to get in the way regardless of age n thats why ive been working out on n off
seriously "life get in the way" only when we let it. nowadays, theres utube, google, MFP, free online workout n nutrition plans, theres only one excuse if we dont workout - by choice or LAZINESS.
follow a utube 10 min HIIT takes, ehhhhh 10 MINUTES at home!

Knees are the only difference when you're older!
(Speaking as a 47 who just got a 'hell no' from my left knee whilst doing weighted lunges...) :-)
I workout after day job. My 9 year old is currently doing a 60 day Darebee workout which I do with him on my 'rest days'. (My 12 year old can't wait to start his at the end of June).
Don't let anything stop you - prioritise and trim the fat from your life :-)1
