Do I count a spin class as spinning?
sure best results logging with a heart rate monitor thou0 -
Well when you were spinning, were you constantly changing your resistance and did you stand while biking at all?0

haven't gone yet, going at 12:10....but thats my perception of the class (that you change resistance and i saw poeple doing it standing and stuff)0

I did not see an option for spinning (did I overlook it) so I created my own exercise entry and logged the time and calories burned using my HRM.0

Well then, that is definitely spinning girlfriend. Good luck!!!!! You burn boat loads of calories.0

I teach spin and you get a large calorie burn if you are working vigourously for the entire class. Easy to do as long as you are following the instructor. Do you know what intensity level of spin you are doing?0

I spin regularly, when I first started MFP, I would always log my class as "Spinning." This gives the same burn as "Stationary bike, moderate effort (bicycling, cycling, biking)." After getting my HRM, however, I found that how much I burned during spin varied from class to class, especially across instructors. Currently, my HRM burns end up somewhere around the MFP "Stationary bike, vigorous effort (bicycling, cycling, biking)" amounts, though they are often pushing the number for "Stationary bike, very vigorous effort (bicycling, cycling, biking)." At the same time, however, a previous instructor I had would give me burns below the "Spinning" level.
Spinning is one of those things that really varies between workouts, so I would highly recommend that you invest in a heart rate monitor.0 -
i burned 1106 cals today at spin my wife burned 801 everyones different you need to get a HRM0

I log mine as spinning. It sounds like you've never been. You'll LOVE it! It's a little addictive. Bring a towel and water. I'm always drenched afterwards. Have fun and let us know how it goes!0

Yea i've never been...."spinning" on mfp says ill only burn 318 calories in 40 minutes which seems off to me because the class looked hard and i usually burn mroe on my own doing less challenging things than this seems to be. i wanted to log ahead because I won't be home all day and wanted to make sure I had to right kinds/quantities of food to bring with me.0
