Burning face

In nearly 7 years of being on my fitness/weight loss journey, something new happened today. I finished a 30 minute and very sweaty work out. The kind where 5 minutes later, you are still sweating. I went into the locker room tried to wipe off with a towel, but was still sweating. I decided to wet my towel with cool water and put it on my face. My face felt like it was on fire!!! For about 10 minutes it felt sunburned and finally started to feel better when I got out into the damp air we had this afternoon.
Any thoughts on why my face burned??

Menopause?0

Ha ha, menopause was my first thought too.
Were you in a warm room?
My face acts like that all summer when I am working in the garden and the temps get over about 25. I just alternate time in the heat and time out of it.
You probably just over heated. It would be good to have an electrolyte replacement drink if you sweated that much.

If it's menopause or parimenopause try a tall glass of ice water to stop it.0

Funny you all said the same thing. I just had lab work done that said I am not menopausal. That said, I have had hot flashes. This was different. I have also had several work outs where I seem to sweat for a while. It was the burning fcae which got me. I honestly wondered what was in the water at Planet Fitness.0

Not normally and if anything, working out calms me down.0

Are you allergic to anything? I ask because I am allergic to soap. Recently I bought a dif laundry liquid and then started having itching episodes. Took a shower which helped then wiped down with a towel which started it all over again something about my body being wet made it worse, clothes I wore during the day didnt have the same instant affect. I imagine a hot sweaty face would make the reaction worse and may feel like burning.0

Yes! I've had this recently during and after my runs- I have managed to get rid of it by using a gentle face wash followed by moisturiser- all cleared up now! Phew! It is horrid - hope you get on top of it!0

Not unless there was penicillin in the water!0 -

My skin is very sensitive, and I get very red & sweaty when I workout hard. If I don't wipe the sweat off during my workout, my skin burns. If I rub my face too hard with a towel during or after, it also makes my skin burn & hurt.
Next time try patting your face dry and see it that stops it from burning.0 -
I have no clue if this is anything that would help you, but when this happens to me, I drink a gatorade and it helps. I also put cool water on my face. The towels in the gym can also irritate my skin. I don't know if this idea is stupid or not, just know it has helped me in the past.1

Have you started using any new lotions or cosmetics on your face? Some sunscreens will make my face burn but only when I'm sweating. When my face is dry, they're fine.0

My face felt like it was burning but it was a strong sensation, worse than sunburn and it came on suddenly. Almost like I had sprayed it with a chemical that was tingling and irritating my skin. It turns out it was a symptom of lack of oxygen to my brain due to an injury. If it didn't feel normal, it can't hurt to speak to your doctor next time you go in.1

yep, happens to me after hard cardio.1

Happens to me too, but I have rosacea. Is that a possibility? It gets worse when I haven't been moisturizing my skin regularly, or if I drink wine.
I miss wine.0 -
Happens to me every time after I run, especially if I go to a cooler area. I just splash my face with cool water and fan myself off - it goes away after a bit.0

Laundry soap, moisturizer stuff like that. Anything different? The towel you used?0
-
I would maybe venture to guess the detergent used to wash the towel made you burn? My family can't use any detergents with scents. Only free n clear sensitive skin stuff. Once we switched the burn went away0

Unless your face broke out or got red, I wouldn't expect it to be a result of a product that came in contact with your skin.1

Just curious, did you get little white dots on your forehead too?
That is usually a sign of your body overheating.
Drinking fluids and maybe electrolytes while working out helps with that.
