WTH-MFP recalculated my calorie goal on its own!

My calorie goal has been 1560 and dropped today to 1240!
I checked to see if my goal settings or weight were the same-and they were. I went in an updated my 1 lb loss, thinking this would reset it to a reasonable calorie goal -nope, still at 1240.
Geesh, its hard enough keeping the 1560.
Has anyone experienced this?

Adjust your goal to lose 1 pound a week and see if that's more manageable for you.0
-
Change your loss per week, then change it back?0
-
It will do that as you lose weight. It's done it to me, though not quite that large of a jump.1

I changed it to 1 lb per week which brought back my 1560, but when I changed it back to 2lbs/week it went back to 1240! Lately, I have been logging my exercise 4-5 times a week -but shoot, I thought that might increase my calorie goal not decrease it. IDK0

Oh, that's normal. It doesn't add on calories for your exercise until you do/log it. The 'goal' doesn't actually change. It is approximately the same number every day, you "net" your goal. What it means is that, before exercise, your body is getting 1240 calories to power all activity (tissue maintenance and non-exercise movement). When you work out, you should get refunded exactly what you intentionally used up. 1240 per day is 8,680. Each pound lost is 3500 calories. Losing 2 lbs a week is cutting your maintenance intake almost in half. Unless you have 100+ lbs to lose, it is not realistic.0 -
I have 80lbs to lose. Lately my weight loss has been moving very slowly. This 1240 will definitely get me out of my rut -I just don't want my body to go into starvation at 1240 -its such a huge decrease.0

What do you mean by "very slowly"?0

1lb in the last 3 weeks. Im trying not to get discouraged0

That isn't too bad. Maybe this would help? http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10359984/women-menstrual-cycle-weight-and-fitness-matters0

It could also be logging errors. Food packages (here in the US at least) often have a volume measurement for solids, with grams afterward. If you measure out that volume, it is almost never the 'correct' weight. The weight will give you a more accurate diary entry than volume or count.1

The target is before you log exercise.0 -

Yes, I dont account for my exercise & most of the time dont eat back my calories. (I wish I could change this setting)0 -
Totally close out MFP and re open it. I got given 250 cals extra last week. I closed the app and next time I opened it all was back to normal.
Cheers, h.
eta: start eating back your exercise cals. You will need the fuel as your weight drops and your calorie allotment goes down.0 -

Yes, I realize that US packaging is not error free however, I usually weigh food in grams. I think I will cut back on my calories and see if this makes a difference.
Thanks for the advice1 -

Ill see if it resets tomorrow. As for eating back my exercise cals, I've thought about this -Im just too scared0 -
I eat my calories back and I'm losing weight. Don't be scared. I'm actually more afraid to under eat and have hair loss and other issues. If you aren't losing then check your food entries. Also it would depend on how much you have to lose.3

You can account for it by adjusting your activity setting instead of logging each work out0 -
