Anyone else dress completely different when overweight vs not overweight?

I ALWAYS wear my sweaters now. I love hoodies, but when I'm overweight I do not go out without one ever. I won't wear shorts or dresses etc. If I wear a tight shirt, I put a sweater over it. If I wear a t-shirt, I wear a sweater over it. I don't even feel comfortable in regular shoes (just boots). Just curious if it's just me. I've lost 45lbs from my highest weight ever (end of last year) and it's a little better now, but I still feel pretty awful because this is my usual "high" weight area. I still have about 53-54lbs to go

Yep. When I'm really lean I tend to wear clothes that are form fitting or sometimes short. The second I gain a little fluff I'm back in hoodies and jeans. But I get really embarrassed about gaining any weight - as if I've failed or given up or something so maybe I think hiding the evidence behind baggy clothes will help with the shame?12

When I was overweight I wore a lot more baggy clothing...I wear a lot more form fitting clothing now.5

My style is the same, but I don't wear my clothing as loose now.
Definitely not completely different. I was a fat boho and now I'm a trimmer boho.
Loved jeans before, love them now.
Loved dressy sandals before, love them now.5 -
Nah I basically follow the same "Jeans+Tank top+overshirt" formula I always followed. I have never been any good at clothes, somehow weight loss didn't imbue me with fashionable super powers...

Nope. I wear the same things now as i did then. I've never been in to tight fitting tops or short shorts, aka revealing gear.
ETA: My main is aim is comfort, I'm the antithesis of a fashionista6 -
When I was overweight, I wore as big of clothes as possible. Now that I'm lean, I wear basically the same style, but it is usually fitted.2

I find it ironic that it probably makes us look bigger but I guess I'd rather look bigger than I am so I know I'm not really as big as I look vs the world knowing my size and how my body really looks and I can't hide it. Lol.0

To me it was about the fat rolls. T shirt or whatever material clinging to fat rolls in the summertime is just...ugh. So uncomfortable, then everything sweats and the sweat shows because the material is clinging there and just...no.
I didn't want anything fitted enough for that to happen.10 -
Work wise, before I put weight back on I wore skirts and dresses every day, now that I've stacked some weight back on, I wear pants. Partly because chub rub, partly because pants and a loose top covers rolls.1

This is me too. I put a little more effort into my outfits and actually like trying on clothes now, but same style as before, with no cleavage, thighs, cracks on display ever lol2 -
Well, I wear shorts again. I went 5 years where I was too embarrassed to wear shorts because I heard some people discussing how disgusting fat people in shorts were. Please do not listen to morons like I did - I realize that they were the ones with the problem, not me (in case that scars anyone who reads this)
I digress.
I wear fewer t-shirts, but that's because I can actually find button-down shirts in my size at Goodwill now. I never wore t-shirts at work anyway, though.
I still live in jeans and yoga pants most of the time. I do wear belts now, I never did when I was heavy, but that's mostly because I haven't bought new pants in the last 40 lbs, and my size 10s now fall off without assistance staying up, and my 8s are slipping too. I don't really intend on replacing them any time soon despite technically fitting a size 6 because I don't like skinny leg jeans and I'm REALLY happy that the 10s are starting to be loose in my thighs. I'll buy new jeans when I must but honestly, I cannot wait for the super-trim-cut-pant cycle to end.
I don't have to wear super-cushiony athletic shoes just for running around town, so I bought my first pair of flat sneakers at Target in many, many years a couple weeks ago. I still can't wear heels due to my back, c'est la vie.
I still purchase my nice dresses custom-made; there's nothing that really beats properly tailored apparel for professional wear.
So, mostly I dress the same as I always did, but its easier to dress the way I want to because I can find things in my size now.2 -

Yep. I wear for comfort and warmth. It is easier to find clothes when I can wear an 8 than a 32W.3 -
As I lose weight I get more casual. I usually feel like I have to dress up more just to make up for the fat.8

I dress a lot nicer than I did when I was heavier. Part of it is that it's easier to find cute clothes in my size, but also I just feel better about my shape. I wear clothes that are more form fitting, skirts, etc..
When I was obese, I never wore skirts, and most of my tops wereally baggy. I always figured maybe I could cover up my weight or something. I don't know.3 -
I'm considered overweight but I still wear clothes that show off my body. It's not like I have rolls of fat on me. When I get back down to 180, I will still continue to wear the same clothes, only difference is I'll be leaner.1

Nothing that tucks in or accents the waist when I'm heavy. My legs are pretty decent and muscular even when I'm at my heaviest, but leggings with tunics and never never anything fitted up top. Broad shoulders with fat back so a double whammy. Avoid sleeveless tops as well at heavy - but that's probably an age thing rather than weight since my "slim" arms aren't my favorite body part any more.0

I'm fond of my style, so I keep buy the same exact dress slacks and shirts but in smaller sizes. Went from XXL to small in the span of 2 years.3
-
I went from loose fitting tees and leggings to fitted tees and shorts lol. Sadly I have more gym clothing than regular clothing1

Preach, running gear is life lol1 -
I don't think so. I've lost 23 lbs (still a whole lot more to go) but I've always been a jean and shirt kinda girl lol when I was my smallest I was more self conscious then I Am now. Its taken me a while to love my body no matter what size I am. I just started a new job and the dress is business casual so I've been wearing skirts and dressed which I would never wear before.1

The only difference is I wear shorts when I have less cellulite showing but on a day to day I still dress the same. I wear a lot of leggings or yoga pants with tshirts and flip flops0

Ima go with yes, I used to wear this type of stuff overly tight shirts (i thought i had a thin waist lol) and yoga pants. A sweater if i went out i could never figure out why my boobs seemed so inapropriate ( i was dellusional to my bad fashion lol)
Now i rock alot of dresses and leggings/ crop tops and actually use alot of dresses with leggings for tops Never wore anything different before. Shopping is fun now im happy my fashion changed
Side note, I also like heels now. I used to feel so stupid in them and think they were gonna break. Happy side effect, Their now comfy on me XD

I don't feel ugly in sleeveless tops anymore, and I have collar bones. I think I dress nicer than I did, because nicer clothes are available when you can buy off the rack standard sizes, not plus size where everything looks like a wheat bag (some with flowers).3
-
It's easier to find cute clothes when you're smaller, and shopping for them is a lot more fun. My general style is the same either way - but I found it difficult to find nice clothes that fit properly when I was heavier.4

My wardrobe is BLACK everything, isn't black slimming?! Lol, I am starting to choose actual colors in new clothes that I buy, for me that's big lol5

I haven't been not overweight at all for 15 years or so. I dress more for comfort now. I wore less elastic waist shorts, pants and skirts then. Tops were pretty similar but I grew to love sweaters and layers more as I got older. I wear more color than I used to. I wear more comfortable shoes now.
When I lost 20-25 lbs more recently I did not change the type of clothes I wore- just got smaller sizes.0 -
Nope ive worn dresses only for years, only things that have changed in the last few years are the size and now t have to wear dresses with boob access for breastfeeding
Trying to find 1950's style dresses i can get a boob out of has been a challenge lol2 -
I feel more comfortable about baggy clothes it gives me more space to wiggle, I'm a Medium Size Asian Male and when I'm buying cusual shirts I go for large for reasons.0

You have a gorgeous hourshape figure!
I'm similar and it's easier for uor bodyshape to dress.
I basically wear the same clothes as before but smaller size. I'm Italian sizes 38-40 now but was 44-46 (in my profile picture I'm wearing 44 Medium). In US clothes I was about size 6, and now I'm not sure, haven't bought anything American lately.

My wardrobe is definitely changing.
I own less clothes in general.
I own better quality clothes (that I will re-tailor when I outgrow them instead of disposing)
I own a more varied selection of clothes. I can put together 20 different outfits using the same 10 pieces and actually look different in each outfit.
I buy only based on what I find missing in my wardrobe and not helter-skelter with no thought about it. (So even though I spend more on each individual piece, I spend less money overall)
I wear more dresses and skirts (I chaff easily, so it was extremely painful to wear for more than 5 minutes when I was heavier)
I wear more color, including white (for a while everything I owned was black or dark to hide stains...)
I wear more fitting clothes (and better fitting clothes)
I wear less clothes with high stretch.
I wear comfortable shoes but what shoes I consider comfortable is changing (Thanks bunion )
I also spend more time putting myself together in the morning. I'm more careful about my clothing choices now.
In the past, 32kg ago, I felt that I didn't deserve to look good in the clothes I was wearing. I had given up on my body, might as well give up on how I dress it. But I do deserve to look good, no matter my size. It's something I'm still working on, but I'm slowly changing my outlook on myself and my life.
