I am 42. Right now I take fish oil 1000mg 3xdaily, gnc megamen vitamin 1xdaily and 81mg 1xdaily of asprin daily.

As a 42oobie should I be taking anything else for vitamins, supplements? I drink protein shakes after running (gnc whey protein).

Just wanted to know what you middle aged males are taking for health and stuff.

I don't think anyone can answer this unless they know what may be missing in your diet. Multivitamins are generally considered to be a waste of money.

I usually eat pretty healthy, so i only take a multivitamin on days i don't eat so balanced.. which isn't often. I use a USP-verified one, since supplements are unregulated.

I'll take vitamin D on weeks that i don't get enough sun.

I eat fish high in omega-3 several days a week, eliminating the need for fish capsules, which don't quite taste as good.

By the way, protein shakes are pointless for most people who eat enough protein throughout the day. :+1:

Regular multivitamins are available inexpensively and can be a worthwhile precaution, especially if someone is restricting their eating. Vitamin D is also worth considering, since a lot of people are deficient. I can't advise about other supplements, though.

I use a daily MV. I follow a LC diet, so it's needed.

I take Omega 3 supplements and a multivitamin every now and then. I have access to a lot of product samples and have never noticed a difference in performance. The only exception being Omega 3 and the impact on lipid testing.

Start from the position that all supplements are useless and work outwards.
Fifty-year old male, who takes the following:
    • 1500mg fish oil daily - because I have an inflammatory auto-immune disorder
    • Whey concentrate as a snack food
    • 5000IU D3 in winter because I'm above 40N latitude

That's it. Multivitamins, specific vitamins and minerals, etc. are at best useless in the absence of known deficiencies, and in some cases can cause or exacerbate other issues.
