I've had a Tanita scale for years, and my weight at home is only ever 2 or 3 pounds under the doctor's office scales. By the time you factor in clothing (which I don't wear while weighing at home,) I'd say it's pretty accurate. The only thing that might be a negative is that mine weighs in 1/2 pounds. It's not a problem for me, but I know it would be for some people.

There will always be a difference when you are weighing using different scales. You can check the accuracy of your home scales by putting some weights on it and seeing what the readout is compared to the weights.

Outside of super-accurate lab equipment, every scale is going to give different values for the same person. You don't need any special sort of scale. Just consistently weigh yourself on the same scale, at the same time of day. I use a simple digital scale I got at Target for $20.

I recently bought a Yunmai Mini from Amazon. I love it because it has bluetooth and links to my Fitbit and MyFitnessPal. It also gives your percentages on BMI, body fat, muscle, water, protein, visceral fat, bone mass, BMR and body age.
