I have cut out a few of these things already, the soda , and the fruity drinks. I am going to start making sure I get enough sleep and no more bread sticks haha.

Oh man, I get to little sleep, eat restaurant free food like the breadsticks, and drink diet coke, probably watch to much tv, go to buffets, tend to end up eating dinner later in the evening, and a few more of those! No wonder Im fat lol, at least I know a few things I can change now.

Ok, I started this post and after reading it thru (and getting the kids out from under my feet...)
I'm guilty of #3 not getting enough sleep.
#6 skipping meals, tho its usually a skipped meal bc only junk is available
#7 eating too fast--if there are other teachers out there, geez! we have 20 min to walk kids some where, go pee, inhale food and pick up the next set of kids, assuming we don't need copies!!!
    #8 watching too much TV
#12 Gian plates--gave those away! :) but it was because they don't fit in dish washer
#16 this one was interesting. When I lost the weight the first time I lost several obese friends. I've gained some weight back but not enough for those people to be around me I guess. I've also noticed that these friends still only have over weight to obese friends.
#17 eating late, always a problem since I'm a night owl
    # 20 emotional eating, don't get me started on that one

Number 17 is a load of crap. Same tired old " meal timing myth" we've been hearing about for years now. The study itself is ridiculous. 52 people over a whole week! Wow, that's conclusive.

since I'm a night owl I go with the idea of stopping eat about 2 hrs before I go to bed. If I stopped eating at 6pm, midnight would have me starving and eating whatever I could get my hands on.

    #5, #6, #7, #8, #13, #15, #16, #17, are based on either false correlations or outdated research

    Interesting!

    Just thought I'd quickly surmise:

    1) Eating “Low Fat”
    2) Not seeking nutrition advice
    3) Sleeping too little or too much
    4) Eating free restaurant foods
    5) Drinking soda – even diet soda
    6) Skipping meals
    7) Eating too quickly
    8) Watching too much TV
    9) Ordering a combo meal
    10) Facing the buffet
    11) Eating off larger plates
    12) Putting serving dishes on the side
    13) Choosing white bread
    14) Taking big bites
    15) Not drinking enough water
    16) Having overweight friends
    17) Eating too late
    18) Not using a scale
    19) Drinking fruity beverages
    20) Eating when emotional

    17) Eating too late
    18) Not using a scale
    19) Drinking fruity beverages
    20) Eating when emotional

    Allow me to summarize now:

    1) Eating “Low Fat” - You need fat in your diet. .35g - .75g per lb of bodyweight. People wonder why they plateau.
    2) Not seeking nutrition advice - Agree with seeking nutritional advice, but from someone that knows their ****.
    3) Sleeping too little or too much - 7 to 8 hours of sleep is what you should be getting.
    4) Eating free restaurant foods - If it fits into your macros and calorie intake for the day then it doesn't matter.
    5) Drinking soda – even diet soda - I agree with this.
    6) Skipping meals - Meal timing is irrelevant, period.
    7) Eating too quickly - Not sure if srs.
    8) Watching too much TV - Not sure if srs on this one either.
    9) Ordering a combo meal - Again, if it fits into macros and cal intake...blah blah you know the drill.
    10) Facing the buffet - See above.
    11) Eating off larger plates - This is really getting old.
    12) Putting serving dishes on the side - Omg srs?
    13) Choosing white bread - Eating white bread is just simple carbs that burn alot faster than complex. IIFYM.
    14) Taking big bites - Not sure if trolling.
    15) Not drinking enough water - Agree with.
    16) Having overweight friends - What the hell does having overweight friends have to do with anything? Help them lose weight too!
    17) Eating too late - Again, meal timing doesn't matter. Completely irrelevant. It doesnt matter if you eat late.
    18) Not using a scale - I like to have goals to aim for.
    19) Drinking fruity beverages - IIFYM.
    20) Eating when emotional - Learn better control. Srs.

    My issues:

#7: Coming from a military family, we typically inhale our food.
    #14: I have a big mouth...that means big bites. ;D

I also don't chew my food long enough. :(

Not sure about the evidence supporting either of these, but it probably wouldn't hurt to try and adjust these behaviors.
