Protein, carbs and fat

I've been on MFP for almost a month. Like the results. What I have found however is that I have a tendency to go over my limit on protein but stay within the fat, carb and caloric daily limits. If I'm 18 grams over on protein any given day but have fat, carb grams and calories to spare.... does that balance off? Probably an individual thing but wondering what others' experiences are with this. Thanks!

Most people consider the protein to be a minimum goal. Unless you have a specific medical condition that requires you to limit protein, I wouldn't worry at all about being 18 grams over. If your goal is weight loss, that will be determined by your calorie intake anyway.

Maybe you should change your macro goals and increase the protein.

Over on protein and under on calories is the best kind of over.

Yeah, don't worry OP, the energy balance (calories) is what matters to lose weight, the macros just are the proportions of how your calories are being ingested.

How do I calculate how many proteins, fats and carbs I should have daily?

I changed my macro goals to better align with how I typically eat. At the end of the day, calories are still king. I just think the default MFP setting for protein and fat is on the low side so I shifted some over from carbs.
