If I want to log calories for a cup of pasta or rice, is that for a cooked cup or uncooked cup?

Uncooked is going to be more accurate. Pasta (especially) will vary in calories depending on firmness. Mushy pasta is holding more water - therefore a cup of mushy pasta is lower calorie than a cup of al dente pasta.

A food scale is a really good option here. Pasta with differing shapes.....a measuring cup isn't great.

Personally, unless it says it is cooked, I assume the food diary entry means uncooked.

For pasta, my rule of thumb is cooked pasta weights 3 times more than dry pasta (I opt for weight over volume). This is very close for standard white pasta, but is less precise for newer formulations of pasta like the high protein types.

Rice, I opt for volume. 1 Cup of rice is about 200 calories, give or take (depends on the grain size I believe). If 1 cup is about 200 calories, it is cooked rice. If 1/2 a cup is about 200 calories, it is uncooked.

I just started sat and than is my question too. So if the box says 1 serving is 2oz (57g) and I want to measure cooked because I'm mailing it for my family too. Do I measure out a third of that for my serving (56 divided by 3 18.5 grams of cooked ?

Dy, raw ingredients. Always. I find that this is always consistent and no variable.
