so,I bought this InstaKetone (I'm not saying brand because I haven't tried it to say either like or dislike) I'm looking to push my body into ketosis. They suggest women drop calories to 1000-1200 per day while consuming only low carb vegetables and protein. Trick is 1 gram per lb of body weight. In my case, I need to consume 180 grams of protein a day. WTH! HOW? Added Details: I'm doing this as a cleans and only planning on eating like this for about 6 weeks or until I can shred my fat stores then, switching to a eating plan cross between Keto/ Paleo
Also, tracking my calories burned; I burn 2198 (every day) on do nothing but breath days and up to 3700 on exercise days. I usually only consume about 1300-1500 calories a day 5'7" 51 yrs old. post menopause. I'm usually very active cardio and weights 5-6 days a week. But, I'm stuck! Can anyone help

That would be over 50% of your calories from protein. I'm not even sure that is possible, unless you ate nothing but shellfish and very very lean meat.

I believe the 1gram is per lb of LEAN body weight, not total body weight. My protein is about 30% on keto

I also really, really wouldn't recommend 1200 calories to anyone who plans on exercising 6 days a week.

Whatever brand this is, it's a crock. I personally don't follow keto, but 1) protein can prevent you from entering ketosis, 2) under 1200 calories is very hard to reach all of the needed nutrients, 3) working out while sub 1200 is going to put you at some risk for heath complications. I suggest reconsidering this plan. Best of luck.

OP it seems you have swallowed every woo based theory that is out there... The only thing missing is ACV!

What is your actual goal? You are a very active woman, are you trying to lose weight? Change body composition? Why trying to achieve ketosis if not intending to continue eating that way forever?

FWIW, when I started keto for weight loss (SW 151) I ate 1350 calories/day plus I ate back 1/2-2/3 of my exercise calories. My macros were 10-15% carbs (I focused more on net carbs than total), 60-65% fat and 25% protein. Like pp said, 1 gm of protein per lb of lean body mass (rather than total body weight) is usually considered plenty.

I've honestly not heard of keto as a temporary "cleanse," and I've been in the keto/LCHF world for about a year and a half. It's an interesting idea, though I'm not sure if it would really have more benefit than just starting out eating how you plan to continue.

You don't get into ketosis by eating a candy bar that might contain ketones

    You don't. It's a bad idea.

Don't know what this is, but it sounds sketchy. You get into ketosis based on diet.
They suggest women drop calories to 1000-1200 per day while consuming only low carb vegetables and protein.

Why? That doesn't sound like a keto diet (which will be high fat), but a PSMF (with slightly higher calories). What's the point?
Trick is 1 gram per lb of body weight.

As others have said, that much protein might keep you out of ketosis (probably not at super low calories, but not a good idea). Protein estimates should be based on lean mass or a healthy goal weight, not a starting weight if you are overweight. 1 g/lb of LBM or .8 g/lb of goal weight are generous estimates that would be more reasonable.

How is this a cleanse? It sounds hard on your body.

What is this keto/paleo cross? Why not start with it, if it is how you want to eat? (IMO, low carb and paleo are different things, and typically are related to different goals, but I am not sure how you are using those terms.)
Also, tracking my calories burned; I burn 2198 (every day) on do nothing but breath days and up to 3700 on exercise days. You should eat appropriate to your activity level and burn. How are you figuring that?

You aren't stuck from eating too little, but figuring out a sensible goal can be a good first step in fixing it.
