Hi all!
I've tried everything in the last 3 years after I've gained weight for a leg injury and new sedentary job, so no exercise at all. The leg problem keeps come and going and I'm scared to go back to the gym.

I've gained 44lbs unfortunately, and I can't lose them, tried calories counting and even WW.
So I don't know if eating 1200 calories, healthy foods, is the solution.
How do you know how many calories you suppose to eat to lose weight and walk at home can be a good exercise to lose weight?

Thank you in advance

You input your data in MFP and it tells you how manu calories to eat. Then you start weighting your food and logging it and voila - you're losing.

Nothing to do with exercise. I don't exercise. Many people don't.

Don't choose to lose 2lbs per week. It will be impossible to follow if you don't move much to encrease your limit to eat. Choose 1lbs.

Keep in mind that the sedentary profile of MFP in fact assumes that you walk around 5000 steps a day.

i m sorry to abt ur leg but i suspect that u didnt do it (calorie counting) correctly before.

did u use MFP or something similar?
did u have a food scale?
    did u log everyday?
did u stay at n under ur daily caloric allowance?

if not, please do the following n u will be fine.

    1. buy a food scale
    2. set up a profile with an easy goal at first (start with .5 or 1lbs a week for the first 2 weeks to ease ur body into it). MFP will give u a daily allowance so u dont need to figure it out yourself.
    3. join an online challenge (optional)
    4. ditch any non supportive friends
    5. donate all junk foods (ASAP)
    6. dont tell people that u r trying to lose weight coz most will tell u to EAT MORE (smile n ignore them if they do but do not give in coz u have a goal n they dont)
    7. LOG everything u eat consistently
    8. google search for recipes if needed

    GOOD LUCK!!!

I've used MFP in the past successfully losing 12kg, but I was working in a coffee shop moving 12h per day constantly, and not that I don't move that much looks Iike is not working.
I'm 6 feet tall and I have to shred 20kg, MFP says I have to eat 1320 calories per day to lose 0.75kg per week.
Do anyone knows if the walk at home training is good for losing weight?

    Thank you both!

The walk at home training would give you some exercise, but that doesn't mean it will make you lose weight, you have to ensure you are eating less than you burn for that. You don't have to be exercising to lose weight, but you do still have to have an decent idea of how much you are burning. Typically if MFP isn't working its due to inaccurate logging (your eating more than you think).

This post has some good tips on accurate logging:

The calorie goal is an estimate based off of the information you put in, so its a great starting point but not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Try to log accurately for 4-6 weeks, see what results you get, and adjust your calorie goal from there.

just do what MFP says n u will be fine. wear a fitness tracker n add in the calories burned when u home train so u may eat back half of those calories if u choose.

exercising cannot catch up to over eating. one hr of intense high impact cadio is only 400 to 500 calories burned in most cases n thats even a big mac or a decent plate of pasta with sauce. i m a fitness instructor n i teach n i weight train but i gained 20lbs last year because i was over eating last year.

    log ur food intake!

I usually never over eat, I'm not eating much really and don't remember last time I went to a fast food, that's wny I was thinking that my lack of weight loss was me not exercising.
I'll start again with proper food log and some exercise and keep the calories intake to what MFP suggested for the next months.

    Thank you both!

Its not any specific type of fook (like fast food) that makes you gain weight. Its eating more calories than you use, which people can severly underestimate. Even "healthy" and nutritious foods can be dense in calories!

Thats why the first thing asked is always if people use a food scale and log everything (:

Like others have said, try to stick with it and log accurately and you should lose weight in no time :)

I don't know anything about the walk at home program but I walk 6 days a week (8000 to 10,000 steps) and it has helped me lose. Granted it isn't a huge amount of difference probably about 100 to 150 calories a day extra but it's worth it to me. I find walking reduces my appetite and clears my mind a bit. I'm 60 years old so you may get more calories for your walking. Good luck.
