I'm looking for a people who can assist me on my wlj. I have about 80 lbs to loss and it is coming off so slowly. I've been working out and dieting about 4-5 days out the week and I'm losing about 1/4lb a week. Ugh!!! I really feel like it's not working. I'm willing to motivate if I can but I need some push from others myself. Help a sister out please!!!

dont be discourage coz u r on the right path but i think u just need to learn to use MFP properly. the number one factor in weight loss is eating at a caloric deficit, meaning u must eat less calories than u burned on a consistent basis. if u r 'dieting n exercising then u will lose n the only reason that it is not quite working is because u MIGHT still be eating too much n exercising cannot catch up to over eating.
did u set up a profile in MFP? what setting r u using n whats ur daily caloric allowance?
did u track ur food consumption everyday?
how long have u been using MFP n exercising?
if not or u dont know, then u need to do the following first;
1. buy a food scale
2. set up a profile with an easy goal at first (start with .5 or 1lbs a week for the first 2 weeks to ease ur body into it before u plunge for the more aggressive settings )
3. only eat back half of what u think u burned at max)
4. join an online challenge (optional)
5. ditch any non supportive friends (A must)
6. donate all junk foods (ASAP)
7. dont tell people that u r trying to lose weight coz most will tell u to EAT MORE (smile n ignore them if they do but do not give in coz u have a goal n they dont)
8. LOG everything u eat consistently
9. google search for recipes if needed
GOOD LUCK!!!
PS let me know if my assumption above is wrong2 -

First tip I can give you is stop thinking of it as dieting, it's not, it's a lifestyle change. I started at 255lb and I'm looking to get down to around 187lb which is the top end of my BMI range plus 10% for my large frame. I haven't made any super drastic changes to my diet, I'm just eating less and moving more. I've lost over 25lbs so far in 6 months.- As mentioned by another poster - set your profile up correctly. Choose the activity level that best describes your home/work/school life.
- A weight loss rate of 1lb per week is fairly sustainable for someone looking to lose that amount of weight. Don't automatically just choose the highest weight loss rate.
- If you don't have a food scale, buy one, it's the best 15 quid you will ever spend for weight loss - you are more than likely overestimating portion sizes.
- I always think a good place to start is by logging what you normally eat over the course of a couple of days, you can use the results as a tool to see where you are taking in unnecessary calories and make small changes to start hitting your calorie goal. For some people this might mean switching from sugary soft drinks to diet versions or water, reducing the amount of oil used in cooking, substituting full fat condiments for reduced fat version, eating smaller portion sizes, etc.
- Start making the changes gradually. Don't go whole hog trying to restrict yourself from the things you enjoy, try to factor them in to your calorie goal.
- Once you have your calorie goal under control you can start thinking about Macro & Micronutrition - this isn't necessary for weight loss but it will help you improve your nutrition and help you manage any hunger pangs.
- Exercise also isn't required for weight loss but is great for overall health, find something you enjoy. If you are using MFP database or machine reads to log your exercise be wary of the calorie burns, there aren't often very accurate.

You need to stick to diet 7 days a week, not just 4-5.3

I've lost 125lbs in the past 15 months and, as anyone who's lost a lot of weight can attest, it's not easy. Like many of the other posters have stated, you need to make sure your diet is consistent. That's not to say you can't indulge here and there, but you should make sure you are following the calories in/calories out methodology. To lose weight consistently, you should be in a caloric deficit of roughly 1000 calories per day.
One thing I found really helpful was taking photos of myself on a weekly basis. Since you see yourself everyday, it's really challenging to notice the differences. If you track your progress, it becomes pretty easy to see the difference over time.
Keep at it!1 -
I get you! It feels like a lot to lose! Try to focus on other things in life as well if possible best of luck, and it's really great you're on this journey, and exercising x1

I'm in the same situation. I have 100 lbs to lose- which is daunting. So I am breaking it down into smaller amounts. 5lbs is easier to achieve than 100.1
