See that wagon over there? I just fell off of it!

I need a little support. Okay, a lot. Over the last month or so I've totally fallen off of the wagon. I've made so much progress, I even hit the 40lb loss mark just a couple of weeks ago. See, that's the problem. I'm still losing little by little but I'm starting to slowly go back to my old fast food eating habits.
I can be good for breakfast normally and will post what I eat. By dinner though, I just want a cheeseburger--and I've started getting one (or 2! My God!).
This is horribly selfish, but I just need some uplifting words to get me back on track. We're all on the same road and I can't believe I'm asking, but I'm struggling.
Everyday I say that I will be better and get myself back on track. I mean, shoot! I only have 5 months until I have to get into a bridesmaids dress for my sister! I'm terrified of being "that bridesmaid" (you know that one I'm talking about...THAT one, the big one :brokenheart: ).
I'm just scared, I think. I'm scared I've gotten too confident and I'm messing up big time.

Your doing great just go back over to the wagon and get on lol.
But really 40 lbs is awsome. Why not make your own cheese bugers? I'm having one tonight with lean beef, cheese and a whole wheat roll. I'm staying in my cals and making it healthier also.
This is a lifestyle change so you definitly want to find a way to stay with it , don't deprive yourself or you may want to eat the "forbiden" stuff.
Good luck:flowerforyou:0 -
Here's a book suggestion to help you never desire fast food ever again...
"Don't Eat This Book" by Morgan Spurnlock (Fast food and the Supersizing of America)
Suldrun shares some very good points:flowerforyou:0 -
Lauren,
Quit letting that dress scare you! It's just a dress...and you're going to look great in it.
Each day starts new. So if you slipped yesterday...no big.... that was in the past. And moving forward is what gives you endurance...which is what gives you the success.
After already losing 40 pounds you KNOW what success feels like...so just tell all those other thoughts to get out of your head!
You can do it!0 -
I can understand this perfectly. :ohwell: You need to change up on exercise and start exploring different foods. I hit a big plateau. I am a very large woman. It is easier for me to go through the fast food than cook the food. This just causes the same problem of being in too much of a hurry to take care of myself. Recommit to your goal to be happier and keep that goal written all over the place to remind you have much you have achieved. I just started checking out different food combinations at the grocery store that I might like to try. You have done wonderfully. I cannot wait until I have 40 lbs lost. I even (yes) started walking up steps at a faster pace instead of exercising on my recumbent bike because I was getting bored. Yes, I said it. Boredom will always cause problems. That's when we have time to think about those bad (great) issues with food. Talk to us. Talk to anyone. I found myself at the drive through at McD's, asking the clerk about calories for their food. It was just enough diversion to make me order healthier choices. You can do it. :flowerforyou: Hooray!!! You have lost 41 lbs!!! You will break records with yourself. Hope to here from you.

I hear you. I felt like this a few days ago. I could totally go for some Mc'd's or something. But I have a toddler and I keep reminding myself that I don't want her eating this crap so often. But if I am eating it then how do I not let her have some fries? or nuggets?
Make your own fries, that way they can be baked. make your own burgers, but make them mini. That way you can have 4 of them and your eyes will tell you your eating lots. Then you know what's in it. There is nothing wrong about eating a burger every once in a while, but if we make it ourselves we can at least control the portion of meat better. And then you can stay within your calroies and eat your cravings sometimes. The fast food places have all kinds of stuff in their patties. Places like A&W and Wendy's paint preservitives on theirs to keep them fresh so they are never frozen. YUCK!!!! If you can maybe try veggie burgers. As for a drink with flavour, put some lemon or mint in some ice water.
Just keep your portions small so you can keep within your calorie limit for the day and make this kind of meal a treat. If you deprive yourself entirely of what you always ate before and crave, you won't be able to keep up your weight loss and will have bad days more often than not and then like now, feel horrible.
Don't forget to flavour your food, it will help with cravings. I made homemade chicken nuggets one night. i rolled them in an egg wash seasoned with my fav seasoning and then rolled in rice krisipi's. It was soooo good. Make your own mini burger patties with chopped garlic, onion and seasonings. And broil them on a cooling rack or on a BB Q. That way the fat drips out and it will taste way better than drive through.0 -

I can totally relate, but you can do it! Like someone else said, make that cheeseburger. Or you can have small 100 cal snacks throughout the day.
40 pounds is an amazing accomplishment! Way to go! Keep it up!
And the wedding thing, when my sister got married she said, "You're supposed to pick out ugly bridesmaid dresses so that you look good!"  Blame it on the dress...you're gonna look gorgeous!0 -
You can do this! I fell off the wagon on Friday when someone delivered 4 pounds of chocolate to my office (there are only 2-3 of us here depending on the day) :grumble: But I kicked my butt with a workout when I got home and actually managed to almost break even for the day! That felt like quite the accomplishment! My plan today is to force myself to exercise BEFORE I eat the candy. After spending 15 minutes on the bike for 1 or 2 pieces, it doesn't look so appetizing! Make yourself accountable and work off every calorie of fast food you eat. You may even start to resent it a little after being on a workout machine for 45 minutes trying to work it off!
Another thought if you can't workout before - go on one of the websites that tell you how long it takes to burn calories (like http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc or http://www.lowfatlifestyle.com/caloriecalculator.htm) and see how long it would take you to burn that many calories. If you can commit to it - then power to you! But you probably won't want to do it very often!
And CONGRATS on the 41 pounds - that is AMAZING!!! :drinker:0 -
I see your wagaon and I see you climbing back on to it. Here I'm holding it for you so it doesn't get away. You are just about half way to your goal. If you give up now you will gain everything back and all of your hard work will be for nothing.
It's time for you to recommit yourself to yourself and a healthy new you! You can do it. And wearing that bridesmade dress is only going to be one pay off in a line of many.0 -
You can do it Lauren! You can!
Who doesn't like a good burger? You should plan to make your own burger at home some time. But the key word is "plan"! Think of good menu ideas ahead of time (maybe even whole or partially pre-cook it) that you will look *forward* to having for dinner. Then you will be less likely to be on your way home thinking: "Oh man I'm hungry, what am I going to have for dinner? I don't even know what's in the pantry, and I don't want to wait for it to cook!" Take a burger for example; depending on how adventuresome of a foodie you are, make your burger with a twist. Have handy in your freezer a pack of frozen veggie burgers. I recommend "Dr. Praeger's california burgers" (they're vegan, but I promise they're yummy). Then the twist- how about South American style? Maybe add a fat free black bean spread, a couple thin slices of pineapple, and a good hot salsa. That's 287 calories, and only 7 grams of fat. As opposed to the 760 calories in a McDonald's Angus 1/3-Pounder Deluxe, with 41 grams of fat. Not to mention all that stuff that shouldn't be going into your body, ever, period!
Then you might even have room in your calorie budget for dessert!
Hope this is encouraging! Get back on that wagon!!!0 -

we've all been there. And we all know you can and will get back on that wagon! just don't get down on yourself too much. we are all human and that food can just call out to us some times . I find that when it's really bad to just plan on that particular food for one meal and to ENJOY it! I try to eat lower calorie foods that day.My great burger substitute is Rachael Ray's recipe for sour cream and onion ground turkey melts--- look under her sammies and subs recipes. I use Nofat sourcream and lowfat cheese and they are so yummy and juicy. I also use land o lakes light butter with canola oil- it melts nicely and tastes alot like butter. they're also great just as a burger instead and not a grilled cheese patty melt. good luck you can do it !0

Lauren...after reading your post I wanted a burger so bad it just about hurt.
I went and bought a big ole portabello mushroom cap, grilled it, topped it with some sprouts, onions, and a thin spread of light mayo....delicious....and way more filling than the old Jack in the Box burger I thought I wanted!
So...I encourage you....and thank you for motivating me to think of an alternative for myself!!!0
