Camping festivals ahead, advice needed!

I'm in a rut, I'm in a really positive mood to eat right and work out and it's rare that it happens so I want to take full advantage of it. However as some of you might know I do fire performing/juggling etc as a bit of fun on the side and I have two trips coming up, one 5 days camping in Wales starting tomorrow and another in Munich next weekend for a week. I find it really hard to eat well when I'm camping and on holiday, it'll be camping for both of them. And while I'm going to be doing probably quite a few activities when I'm there (slack lining, extreme unicycling -google it-, juggling, fire spinning), I know I will still eat lots of crap.

And then it"'ll throw me right out of sync, I really wanted to make august 'my month'. Does anyone have any tips for eating/keeping the motivation while camping? I do these several times a year and typically the diet is crisps, chocolate, biscuits, ciders, rum and some sandwiches! Everything a growing boy needs ;).

I know I'll be quite active, I'll be performing and teaching a few workshops like photography and fire stuff, but I always seem to make excuses at these things to eat badly like 'oh I'm camping/I'm on holiday/it's only a week' but I'd love to be able to make a lifestyle change and still be able to be healthy when I go away. I was thinking about taking my fine oats and protein powder for morning breakfast shakes for a start.

  • what about taking dry savoury snacks such as rice cakes, pretzels, nuts etc to replace unhealthy ones? you can still eat the unhealthier stuff but hopefully you'll consume less of it!

you could also try canned soups and beans - i found some great canned chillis that make a lovely quick hot lunch and are only about 100 calories per half can...

don't let it ruin your "holiday" though, just keep in mind what your goals are and keep within your calorie goal - especially if you're exercising, you'll be able to have more =]

    good luck!
