I'm training for my first endurance event....a 2 day 41 mile hike in Oct to raise money for the leukemia and lymphoma society and on days of my long endurance hikes I've been taking bcaa because I noticed it helps me with my endurance and recovery. I don't take this everyday. Just wondering what anyone's experience is with using this supplement for weight loss and if it even helps in that area as I know its more for body builders which is not what I'm going for but like I said it really gives me this super hulk like strength to get through 4 plus hours if hiking.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Well, supplements are NOT just for body builders.
I'm not trying to build muscle, but I do use Protein Powder to help with my recovery and to help replace fat with muscle. More muscle means more calories burned at rest, means faster weight loss.
I would take it every day if I could.0 -
Yes I take bcaa, use it for either endurance, over an hours worth of training, but I use it for fasted training. Stops muscles being used as energy same as drinking a protein shake but with out the calories. It is only effective if you use it for long exercise or fasted exercise though. How much do you take and when?0

Joe, I am well aware "supplements are NOT just for bodybuilders" however any info I've looked up on bcaa has been for body builders and powerlifters that is why I was asking here.
Emma I only take one scoop a half hour before my long endurance hikes which are once a week and on days at the gym I plan to do over an hour of cardio/wright training to keep my energy going and to push through. I probably take it on average 2-3 times a week. I see it says take 1-2 scoops on the directions (pure protein brand) and then read on websites to take 1 scoop for each 100lb. I'm well over 200 trying to get under it but 1 scoop is enough for the boost it gives me. I do drink whey protein shakes after these kind of workouts (not on lighter ones). What is fasted training?0 -
I take Xtend BCAAs and consume it intra-workout, and then I consume another 10g later in the morning.0

I will be starting to take Aminomax when I do my next workout. I have read up on it and will give it a go to see if I benefit from it. It contains BCAA. It says it delivers Amino acids and also contains Leucine. I am upping my workouts so should feel the benefit of less aching and hopfulyy my muscles will recover quicker :-)0
