Hi
Just curious because.everyone is built so differently
I'm 5'7 and started here a few weeks ago at 155...I'm now 144
Initially, my goal was 138ish....I weighed 138 before getting my with my ds 4 yrs ago (also have a 2yr old dd..)...I was pretty content with my weight at that time...was a comfy 6-8...
I'm thinking of shooting for another 10, rather than 5...I just want to make sure to get to a weight that I can comfortably maintain
Thanks, kim

Kim,
Good quesiton. I'm 5'7 also. Original goal was to be 140 - Im at that now and decidede to go to 135.
I'm just going to play it by ear. Don't want to get down to a weight that I cant maintain0 -
when I was my fittest I was 165 and running a lot. I checked into this site at 235.5 and am down to 211. My goal is to be at the top end of the recommended weight for my age and then gradually work my way down to a lower weight (I would really like to be 165 again) that I can maintain comfortably and without too much pain in the process.
I think your plan is a very good one. The problem we all have is what can I maintain and this is a constant battle between mental cravings and what the body really wants.
Hope that helps even if it's from a guy0 -
You should plug yourself into a BMI calculator...they're all over the web and free. That should give you a range that's healthy for your height...then you can choose if you're comfortable at the low or high end.0

I'm 5'8 and was at 150 and climbing... Having a small goal of 140 really motivated me... It didn't sound like too much to loose... now i am at 144 and I am ready to take it to a new level... 135 sounds good. at my age and height I shouldn't go to my old high school weight of 119... I would be terribly unhealthy... it would be under my BMI too. :flowerforyou: Good luck in all you do!0

Well, that's a good question! I am 5'7" and currently weight 181. About 2 years ago I weighed 173. I felt really good at that weight, but I am never satisfied. At that time I wanted to be 160. My current goal is to be back to 170ish. Then my secondary goal is to be in the 160's. What I really want is to be a size 10/12 in pants, whatever "weight" it takes to get there. When I was in high school I only weighed 120. I know I will NEVER get back to that! Not after 2 kids!0

I break it into small goals- my next one is 20 lbs....then I'll set another0

wow. you've done great so far0 -
According to the recommended weight vs. height chart, I need to weigh 185 to not be considered overweight anymore. I would really like to be considered "normal" and not at increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, etc. In addition, I'm a commercial helicopter pilot and I want to finish my helicopter flight instructor rating. 185 is often quoted as the max weight for a helicopter pilot at the bottom of the ladder so I feel like I'll be more marketable if I can get down to 175-180.0

my wedding day weight - but my real goal is to get to 22% body fat0
-
I've been everywhere from 150 lbs down to 98 and back up in between, and while I'd love to go a little lower than my goal weight again, it's as low as my boyfriend would ever let me go, while I'd still be happy with myself. :laugh:0
-
I determined how much body fat poundage I'd have to lose to reach 15% body fat. I'd like to maintain my weight so I can measure like a fatty on all the charts and be ripped and laugh :laugh:0

I was just going to say to use your body fat as a guide. I am 5'4 on a good day and in college weighed 145-150 and was 19% body fat. So even though I'm higher on my BMI, I will never be the 110lbs my BMI says I should be; just not healthy. Just as you are 5'7, 135 could have you all over the charts for your bodyfat.
For females: essential body fat is 10-12%, Athletes 14-20%, general fitness 21-24%, acceptable 25-31, 32% and over is considered obese. (see American Council on Exercise)
Who cares what you weigh as long as your composition is healthy! Good luck :happy:0 -
I also went to one of the calculators and started punching in weights until I got to the one that would take me out of the high risks for heart disease, etc and put me at a normal body fat ratio. I think it's something like 110, I'll look again when I'm anywhere near there.:blushing:0

I'll know I'm there when I can put my blue dress on and it doesn't stretch.....:bigsmile:0

I came up with my weight based on what I have felt my best at. Im 5ft 7 also but my goal weight is between 120 and 125. I have a pretty fine bone structure and my body type is more or less that of a dancers (but carring an extra 20 lbs right now).
I weighed between 120 and 125 for many years - it was the last two that just sort of got away from me and the weight was a gradual gain.0 -
found out what my healthy BMI was and that put me between 140-160. Was 150 when I met my husband and a size 10 or 12, my doctor recommended 140 so I figure I aim for 145, see how I look and feel and if I want to go for the extra 5 good if not, good.0

Mine...well. Two years ago I was at 135 pounds and felt pretty good. I had gotten there by only changing my eating habits-no exercise. After I got married and my husband and I got "comfortable" and "lazy" we both gained quite a bit of weight and I reached the heaviest I've ever been: 183 pounds at 24 years old and 5'6. So, decided it was time to do something. I set my goal for 140 pounds on here. After starting decided I want to be at 135 pounds by July for our 1 year anniversary. In all reality I would love to be around 125 pounds...since I'm actually exercising this go round, I think I should be able to get there. I've lost 20 pounds so far (since starting in November) so I think I'm on the right track. The hardest part will be maintaining it once I get there, however since exercising has now become part of my "routine" and I actually LOVE it, I don't think maintenence will be as hard as has been in the past. So...although we all have different goals, I think we can all do it!!!! Good luck to you all!!!!:drinker:

I came uo with mine because i use to be thin and i would like to get back to where i was0

I'm 5'1" and at 125 I look too skinny....I don't know why but my smallest was 122 and I looked like a skeleton and the chart tells me I should have been like 110....no way! not on my body! I'm shooting for 130 because that's how much I was at my wedding 9 yrs ago I was a size 4.....but I'm going to see what 140 feels like or even 135....I'll know when I get there but I set my goal for 130....confused? I am LOL right now its pound by pound LOL
best of luck!

I'm 5'5 and I will be happy at 150. I think everyone has different bodies, but as long as you are comfortable, you should be fine. I happen to be very muscular, and I could not even imagine being lower than 150.0

Wow you all did some kind of research, I just picked a number out of the air:laugh:   I am 5'4" and I weighed 205 when I started. I was just shooting for about a 50-55 lb loss. But maybe I should be 145 or lower? I think I'll stop losing weight when I feel like I am there. I'm not yet:sad: But I will say although I feel so much better after losing weight I am having problems staying motivated and I don't know why. I have more to go but I wake up and start with a sigh lately, like oh here we go another day and I'm not thinking that in a positive way. Is anyone else feeling like this? Maybe it is just a winter thing I don't know. But I am now shooting for smaller goals, I started with 10 lb goals, then it went to 5lb goals, now I would just be happy with a 1lb goal. I'm kinda mad at myself for this.0
