Hi, I weight before and after cooking 100g uncooked/ 200g cooked of brown rice every morning to have for my dinner and was wondering what weight I was meant to put in my diary cuz it doesn't specify. Could anyone help please?

Generally go with the uncooked weight unless it says cooked

Uncooked unless it specifies otherwise on the nutrition label (which is unlikely).

Have a look at the packet where the nutritional info is displayed. Normally it will say something along the lines of *60gr of uncooked rice equals approx. 180gr of cooked rice..

If I'm making a single-portion I'll do uncooked (in grams) and make sure my diary entry accurately reflects that.

When I'm making dinner for two it's not worth it to make two separate pots of rice (my bf usually has a larger portion than me, or I cook extra for leftovers) so I will log it as cooked (in grams using my food scale) and ensure my diary entry accurately reflects that as well.

Most accurate is to use an uncooked entry and enter the uncooked weight. Also account for anything you add to the rice that has calories, such as cooking oil.

If you use a cooked entry and enter raw weight (or the opposite) your log will not be accurate. Using cooked entries can also be awkward because you may cook more or less moisture out of your rice than someone else, and that would alter the weight but not the calories.

If I'm making more than I intend to eat: I'll weigh the dry and again weigh the cooked. And then enter based on a ratio of what I consume. Such as if I cook a total of 200g dry, and the finished product weighs 600g: I then weigh what goes on my plate. If it is 150g cooked, I know I'm eating 1/4 of the original (or 150/600) so I log 1/4 of the 200g, or 50g.
