Lingering hunger

I drink plenty of water. Drinking plenty of water is not new to me. I have lingering hunger that makes me want to eat something fast. This is part of my problem. I snacked on an apple sauce, mixed fruits, and after workout a small smoothie with 4 oz OJ, blueberries and 2 tsp of the protein I have ( I don't like the taste of the protein) after workout but because this is based on calories, the calories counts and can add up.

Is it normal to have some lingering hunger at the beginning? I mean, people don't want to feel any withdrawal or hunger, but is it realistic? Water by itself doesn't get rid of the problem.

If you are reducing volume of what you eat, yes you will feel emptier/hungrier than usual.

That being said, a lot of people find drinking calories to be not very filling - perhaps replace the smoothie/OJ with something that fills you up a bit better.

Yeah, I guess it's somewhat normal to feel hungry while trying to lose weight. I feel it occasionally, but, not too bad because I'm not doing too much of a deficit. I'm eating at a 1000 calorie deficit according to my fitbit which is an actual 630-640 calorie daily deficit yield on the scale because borderline hypothyroid+food labels aren't always accurate+fitbit Blaze overestimates by 2-3%.
The bigger the deficit you try to do, the more your body tries to sabotage your efforts with hunger.
Bulky foods like leafy greens could help. If it gets too bad, you may want to re-examine how high your deficit is and consider if a more realistic deficit might be more sustainable. Deficits that are too high can just trigger overeating whenever your body finally makes you crack.
But again, all of that is a total shot in the dark since I don't know anything about what you're trying to do..

I had tuna, meatloaf, salad and beans, so it isn't that I am not eating other needed nutritions. The hunger is very small but can be annoying. It could be I am wrestling not to go to food for comfort.

I will look up smarter food choices and see if that helps. I have some cottage cheese I can try eating with fruits. Some nuts might help. I will need to look up ideas as I am a visual learner. The trick will be balancing it out not to go over calories especially not too much.

    Thanks!

Maybe incorporate some Greek yogurt in that smoothie? It has a lot of protein and may help the hunger pangs.

    Best wishes to you!

Try eating more protein and see if that helps. Maybe swap out the smoothie and applesauce type things with more Filling foods. I'm also a little hungry sometimes. Not starving but just a little hungry. I am ok with it. I would expect that to be normal sometimes since I'm eating less calories than im burning.

It is annoying when you're used to eating until you're full, always. But I guess I've just decided that I really want to lose weight so I'm okay wth being a little hungry sometimes. It's not forever. And some days I do get full while still eating at a deficit, so I think it just depends on the foods you eat.

I have the same problem! But what I do to cope is I make sure to have fruits in my fridge, like bananas or apples. Whenever I get hungry, I snack on them bit by bit. This helps me out a lot

I'm only hungry right before meals. I've found the balance of protein, fat, and fiber that keeps me full. I look at the macros for all my snacks, as well as meals.

2 tsp of protein powder didn't sound like much so I measured out 2 tsp of mine. It came to 4 grams. A serving of my pp weighs 23.3 g and provides 20 g of protein. 4 grams is only 3.4 grams of protein. Your smoothie has a very, very high ratio of carbs to protein, and no (or insignificant) fat.

I did some experimenting before I found a brand of protein powder that I liked. It has very few ingredients. I love my smoothies. But, if I couldn't find a pp I liked I would eat more meat or put cottage cheese or Greek yogurt in my smoothies. My mother uses tofu in the smoothies she makes for my brother. (When left on his own, he doesn't consider protein as much as he should.)

You're eating pure carbs. Of course you'll be hungry. Have some protein and fat with your fruit.

    This^

A tablespoon of peanut butter with your apple, or a slice of cheese, will probably make a big difference.

There are a lot of low calorie but filling foods you can swap out for the smoothie. String cheese, hard boiled eggs, egg whites mixed with veggies, greek yogurt with berries, pistachios, low calorie wheat bread with half a small avocado, etc.

I agree not everyone has trouble with Carbs but for me when I find I am hungry all the time I look at my diary and see I am leaning a little too heavy on carbs and not getting enough fat and protein.

This reminds me I have powder peanut buttet. Didn't know what to do with it. I will try this. Thank you.

I ate cottage cheese with lite syrup canned peaches. This has helped. I had some calories left so I snacked on almonds and cottage cheese with peaches again instead of something else that may not fill me up.

    Thank you.
