I gained 12 pounds over the past week due to eating and TOM.
I checked today and I've lost four inches.
How the freak does that make any sense?

ALSO.
during my cardio workouts, my arms get sore and feel like ihavn't stretched, but I have. any way to avoid that?
Just stretch more or something?

Thanks guys :)

Drinking enough water? It's most likely water weight combined with some muscle but you didn't gain 12 pounds of muscle. It's most likely fat, water, and a little muscle.

I would chug water like it is going out of style and eliminate salf from your diet for the next week. Wait till you TOM is done and then try weighing yourself again.

I already drink water like it's nobody's business.
But I guess I could drink even more? haha thanks guys :]
  • to combat the sore arms during cardio, i'd focus on moving your arms rather than stretching. try making big circles, sort of like a freestyle swimming motion. move your arms front to back, side to side, etc. i have read some articles that say these types of movements are better than static stretching.

regarding the weight gain, i agree with joejccva71 that it is likely a combination of things, not pure fat gain.

She probably means not to do any static stretches. Ballistic (sp?) stretching is best for cardio.

Muscles are like rubber bands... think of what a rubber band would do if you tried to pull it after it was sitting in the fridge. Snap!
You should never static stretch before a workout... 'active' stretching like a light walk, slow jog, light weights, etc is recommended. After you work out, static stretching is perfectly acceptable... however if you are feeling sore and you have done some static stretching it's because you are challenging your muscles and that is a good thing! It's kind of unavoidable due to the very nature of what happens when you work out - you fatigue the muscle and then your body adds more muscle to repair it.
  • Check your salt intake too. Some food are high in salt and retains water in our body. :-)

By stretching, I ment the little warmups they have in turbofire.
so it's not the kind of stretching everyone is referring to.

That may be the very issue then :)
