Gaining weight is a struggle

I am currently at 106 and hate the way i look. I want to have thicker thighs and a big butt. To actually look healthy and not like the stick that i am now. Im okay with the way i am but not happy.
Since it is summer my insecurities of my weight has skyrocketed. And even more so when my boyfriend likes pictues on instagram of slim-thick girls, basically having the body type that i want.

I am trying to gain 10-20 pounds in a 1-2 month span. I don't know if that is possible! I want to be thicker before my birthday, which is in 2 months.

Any tips on gaining weight very fast would be awesome!! My entire life I have been skinny. I am tired of it. I NEED TO GAIN.

You're in luck! Gaining weight is easy, just consistently eat more calories than you consume and the weight will appear.

Try to make is healthy food with lots of protein if you can.

Exercise regularly and ensure that you are fitting in some strength training. That way the weight you retain will become muscle rather than fat (a slight simplification but essentially accurate).

    Good luck! :-)

10-20lbs in such a short period of time will result in mostly fat gain. If that is fine with you, then you can go for it but you will have more of a thick look vs slim thick that is sounds like you want (depending on how you store fat). Also it will be a lot of calories and it can get overwhelming which can cause you to get discouraged. Similar to weight loss, slow and steady is usually more sustainable (unless you are very underweight and under the care of a dr's orders). Typically, the optimal gain for females is 0.5lb per week or 2lb per month for a good muscle to fat gain ratio. Provided you are weight training while you gain of course.

Check out this thread about foods and habits to help you gain:

My advice would be not to set a strict deadline on your gaining, but aim for smaller goals to not get discouraged. For your birthday, find a hot dress that compliments the body you have now, get your hair and nails done and rock what you've got.. if you set realistic goals you will get there, in time.

    Good luck!

There is no way you can eat enough to gain 20lbs of fat in 4 to 8 weeks.

Aim to add 0.5 to 1lb per week and add some progressive overload lifting so you're not gaining just fat.

    Peanut butter is your friend.

I went to the doctor not too long ago and they said i am underweight. which i have always been my entire life. just a bit underweight. Adding on muscle would be nice but that would take a year or more. Right now i just want to pack on some pounds, and do some training. Maybe 3 times a week??

Check out the link I posted.. that should help. Also if you are having trouble eating in a surplus then adding 2500cals to gain 5lbs per week is definitely going to be a struggle. I would start off small and focus on gaining at this point vs trying to stuff your face to the point of being sick to gain as much as possible. Eventually you will get more used to the higher cal intake and build up from there. Track your intake on here to make sure you are hitting your goals helps too.

im in the same boat that I want 10 more. I was 165 in 2014. I'm 185 in 2017, and want 10 more. It's possible, just set your goal weight on MFP and eat accordingly, heavy on protein and do strength training like a motherfacka :persevere:

Add fat to everything.. cheese, whipped cream, butter, peanut butter, oils, nuts.. higher fat cuts of meat.. bacon, ribs, also trail mix, dried fruit, bagels, pasta, cookies, ice cream, cake.. you can even make smoothies with ice cream if you want. Poptart ice cream sandwiches.. get creative.

    Omg I sound like Dr.Nick here: :D

Drink whole milk with your meals. Get extra cream in your coffee. Carry protein bars and hiker's mix with you to nibble on during the day. Enjoy full fat dressings on your salad. Apple pie with ice cream. Nuts of all kinds. Rich cheeses are good, too.

Fats have twice the calories per gram than either protein or carbs, so they add up quickly. If you want to add calories fast, fat is the way to go.

Here's a weird suggestion. Go for a run a couple times per week, not enough to over do it, but enough to get your appetite up. Then eat back more than you need.

Those that are suggesting to add fats are correct. They are an easy way to add a ton of calories. Nuts are one of the most calorie dense foods available and won't give you a heart attack.

Interestingly enough, cardio never makes me hungry. Lifting heavy on the core lifts definitely does. So the OP might want to play around with those to see if it stimulates her appetite.

OP, don't be afraid to drink some calories; chocolate milk, protein shake, etc.. Also, be careful with excessive weight gain as it can increase visceral fat which could lead to other issues. Going at a more moderate pace will definitely keep you healthier long term. I can understand the need to gain weight quickly, but trying to over stuff yourself will make this even harder. Gradual increases in calories will make it more sustainable and achievable.

Mass gainers tend to be highly over-priced and loaded with fillers. You'd probably be better off making your own. In fact, if you go to the link above, I have a few websites that have higher calorie protein shake recipes.

I have the same problem. Recently I have increased my butt size :) by working out and paying attention to my calories and adding what I can. I tend to eat small amounts and not frequently and with ibs this gets annoyingly hard to gain weight. I went on YouTube and watched some videos and tried some out I started at just 15 mins now sometimes I do 30 and not every day. I haven't gained as much as I would have liked so far but my pants are feelin it

I also have a thyroid issue so I only do minimal cardio (jogging on spot) during my warm up
