So I did my work out last night using my Fitbit for the first time. When I was finished I only burned 108 cal but when I woke up this morning there were 200 extra calories more than my total calories I burn for the day. Was the fit bit late at gathering the calories I burned or do I continue to burn calories after my work out?

Fitbit tries to measure how many calories it thinks you burned over your 'normal level of activity'. Basically, I'd wait 3-4 months for it to gather data before you go ahead eating back any of the extra calories you burned outside of dedicated exercise sessions. It will become more accurate with time.
