Goal at the end of ten days is to be below 130.

    05/23 - 133.6
05/24 - 132.4 - did a HIIT workout yesterday morning and then ate well and within my calorie goal. Feeling good today. Goal is to go for a 5km run tonight.
05/25 - 132.0 - Ate pretty well, just 20 calories over my limit. My fiance wanted to go for a walk so we walked 5km instead of me going for a run.
05/26 133.6 - went for the run! But was feeling pretty good about my progress so naturally I self-sabotaged with some chocolate-covered raisins and almonds and went right back up to 133.6 this morning. Gah the water weight. I WILL BE GOOD THIS WEEKEND...I WILL BE GOOD THIS WEEKEND...I WILL BE GOOD THIS WEEKEND...
05/27 - 132.8 - didn't eat too badly for a Saturday. Went for a long hike and a run so was just within my calorie goal. Yay!
05/28 - 132.6 - I figured I wouldn't go down much. Must be retaining a bit of water from some extra desserts I've been having.
05/29 - 132.8 - not too bad for a Monday morning. Usually I am a few pounds more after a weekend but I was pretty good this weekend.
    05/30 - 132.2 - meh
05/31 - 132.8 - booooo. Obviously I will not be below 130 by the end of this 10-day thread. It has been very enlightening though. I always think I'm just a few days away from being below 130, but am realizing that I haven't changed my diet enough to do so. I record in my diary every day and am under calorie goal most days but don't weigh my food, so must be consuming much more calories than I think. Time to re-adjust...

This challenge shows the reality of a weight loss journey. Nobody loses weight without set backs and I hope lots of people find this challenge encouraging. When I first signed into MFP I was so discouraged by my Yo-yo dieting I wanted to give up. The reality is I am not going to stop eating chocolate, bread, pizza, ice cream and the foods I love. That is not what makes me fat. What makes me fat is a lack of self -control. There I admitted it.
Should I celebrate being down 21# since May 20, 2016(266.6), or cry because I am up 20# since January 17,2017 (226.0) or celebrate the the 1.6# loss this week?. I think I will celebrate the 2# loss and put the past in the past and move on. I am determined to use this forum to keep me accountable. Seeing it posted online should help. My goal is to stabilize my eating habits so I stop the Yo-Yoing. I will celebrate the victories, and hope to just keep that scale going down if its 2# a month or 1.6# a week.
I'm going to get back on track.

05/24 245.8 Just started back after gaining and losing for many years. I really think this is going to help me. I haven’t used the community boards much. Is there a way to edit past posts instead of a new post everyday?
05/25 No weight. On a short vacation so I didn’t get to post yesterday or weigh in this morning. No scale. I only weigh first thing in the morning because my weight seems to go up and down during the day.
05/26 245.4 My WOE is -1800 calories eating what I want. I will be lowering calorie count as I lose pounds. I want to do 1800 for at least three weeks. I have been told it takes three weeks to change a habit. I have tried most of the current diets and need to find what works for me. Thanks for listening.
    05/27 245.0
05/28 28 Away from home- no scale. Stayed on calorie goal Saturday & Sunday. Will weigh in tomorrow.
05/29 245.4 I stayed on goal but ate a lot of salt. Not discouraged. I know staying on calorie goal is what is important. Practicing self-control. Thanks for challenging me.
05/30 247.6 Don’t know why. Stayed on / actually way under calorie allotment. Maybe salt. Ate pretzels and Spam yesterday. Going to watch that salt today. See ya tomorrow.
05/31 248.0 I have been staying under my calorie goal, (1800) I record every bite of food. I believe the problem may be water . I have been dealing with an infection and to much salt. We’ll see. Going to stick with 1800 for 21 days. June 11, 2017

This is just what I need

    5/23 138.2 lbs
    05/24 138 lbs
05/25 138.6 lbs not sure what has happened here thought I was good yesterday, also did 10000 steps and half hour yoga. Hopefully the scales will shift the right way tomorrow. Better start logging my food to make sure I'm being as good as I think.
05/26 138.6 lbs was doing so well until the babies had a rough night due to the heat. Had three chocolate Brazil nuts. When I saw the calories I wished I hadn't. Will know for next time. Seen someone had a good loss due to drinking lots of water. Off now to have a huge glass of water to see if that helps. Something's got to
05/27 137.2 lbs whoop whoop and I'd been naughty yesterday but had drunk lots of water and spent an hour gardening.
05/28 137.4 maybe the naughtiness is catching up.
05/29 137.2 lbs don't think I'll be as lucky tomorrow, bank holidays are very difficult to remain good with the diet.
05/30 136.4 lbs very surprised but feeling quite motivated by this.
05/31 136.8 lbs ok so today I felt the need to eat everything in sight. think I might have blown a good finishing result tomorrow.

1.5kg in 10 days. I'm very pleased with the loss. I'm annoyed I let my weight creep back up that high. This is weight I already lost last year, but this time it feels much more sustainable. Hopefully I'm a bit wiser for it!
    Good luck everyone

    05/23 = 66.5kg
    05/24 = 66.25
    05/25 = 66
    05/26 = 66 -
    05/27 = 65.5
    05/28 = 65.5 -
    05/29 = 65.5 -
    05/30 = 65.75
    05/31 = 65.5 -
    06/01 = 65kg

    * Because I'm not using electronic scales its hard to be exact with small movements, so I'm only using increments of 1/4 kg

Starting notes, just finished my first 48hr fast earlier this week (I'm keto). It was easier than expected & helped get things moving again. It went so well I have decided its something I want to repeat at least once a month. I expected a little bit of a gain once I started eating again & got about half a pound back before it went back down again which was also better than expected.
Notes about me, I'm 41, almost completely sedentary (something I'm trying to change, was unwell for a couple of years, feeling better & starting to move around more. Some days I'm more active than others.) I also have significantly annoying hormone issues that like to get in the way, but I seem to have finally found a way around it all)
I aim for about 5lbs per month, anything more than that is a nice surprise
Starting weight this week, 277, goal by the end of these 10days, 275ish.
    5/23 - 277.7
    5/24- 276.2
    5/25- 276.7
    5/26-276.6
    5/27-277.1
5/28-278.0 I think there was hormone cycle weight gain going on this week. I was irritated with it though & decided to try to break it lose with a very low calorie day after this weigh in. Can't quite call it a fast but it wasn't a normal food day either.
5/29-275.1 And it worked, I got the number I've been waiting for! That said, I expect to gain some water back over the next week or so until shark week when it will come back off again. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
    5/30-274.1
    5/31-272.8
I just gotta say, this has been a crazy successful week. I didn't realize how much a couple of days of fasting would shake things loose by wow am I impressed. I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to incorporate that going forward. I like the idea of 5/2 (eating normally five days, fasting two different days during the week) But I'm also fasting for the benefits of autophagy & that kicks in best with continuous fasting. I'm not sure I want to do 48hrs at a time more than once or twice a month, but I guess I'm just going to play with it over the next couple of months & see what seems to be the most effective without causing me any kind of unpleasantness (so far, zero unpleasantness, but new to the idea of fasting like this so still a little nervous about what constitutes taking it too far. I'm told 72hrs is sort of a sweet spot for autophagy, but I'm really not ready for that yet for sure) I dont' want to lose too fast honestly. But I do still expect to put some water weight on at some point here.

None the less, this is the 40lb mark for me and that is pretty darn exciting!!

    05/23 - 141.8 (a bit too close for comfort!)
    05/24 -140.8 (5k run yesterday)
05/25 - 140.0 (weight training day yesterday. Nice surprising drop again this morning - although I suspect this is mostly water weight. I decided to concentrate on getting enough protein this week - something I'm not very good at usually. I've done really well so far, but, in order to keep within my calorie total, it's been at the expense of carbs - I read somewhere that 1g of carbs binds to 2g of water, so that'll be why the sudden drop in weight! (It does make you wonder what our 'bodyweight' actually ever is really?!) I've already had enough of tuna, chicken and eggs though - they're making me feel so full! And so thirsty! Not sure I'd be able to keep this up long term.
05/26 -139.2 (YAY! - finally broke through the 140 barrier! Really pleased with this. Determined to keep it up this weekend. Have a good one everyone)
05/27 -138.6 (weight lifting yesterday, going for a 10k run this morning, but have friends over for tea this evening so hoping to keep within my calories for today. I WILL BE GOOD THIS WEEKEND!)
05/28 - 139.0 (not bad at all - did my best 10k ever yesterday and didn't go mad on the wine! Weight lifting and core conditioning this morning)
05/29 - 140.0 (my weight normally fluctuates up after a weekend - I blame the high sodium Sunday lunch - but this isn't as high as usual so I'm really pleased. Back on it today!)
05/30 - 140.0 (rest day yesterday. Gym or run today)
05/31 - 139.0 (weightlifting at the gym yesterday, so going to fit in a 5k run this evening - hoping to finish this 10 day challenge below 140lbs - just hope I haven't jinxed it now! )
06/01 - 137.8 (WOW - so much better than I expected - thanks @hillcrestbaby for the challenge - I'm very tempted to join you for the next 10 days to try to maintain this now).

I'm in for this challenge. I'm trying to lose slower or maintain so here's to hoping I'm down a lb or stay where I'm at.

    Day Weight Comments

    05/23 *138* - 3.2 miles walked, sworkit full body strength 30 min

05/24 *137.6* - 4.19 miles walked, swork it full body strength 30 min

05/25 *137.2* - 3.17 miles walked, Slim in 6 Burn it UP 48 min, felt great after getting my burn it up work out in! I was ready to conquer the world :)Increased my intake and had almost 1600 calories. 1500 to 1600 is what I'm aiming for.

05/26 *136.2* - Woo Hoo. Wasn't expecting that. I expect wt to go up some after this weekend :)I will be indulging a bit.

05/27 *136.4* rest day. It was really and I mean really hard to rest on Saturday. The weather was gorgeous and I was just ready to walk and get some serious steps in and work out. Alas, my sister was with me and prevented either from happening which was good because well rest days are beneficial and needed for sure

05/28 *no scale today* Rest Day. NSV I was able to comfortably wear my new clothes after eating way more than usual. Movie theater popcorn, indulgent chocolate cake, Denny's, outback steakhouse, grilled elote, tortillas, good home cooked Mexican food, Italian ice and who knows what else. I will not do that often bc I had a serious sugar coma and did not like how I felt.

5/29 *137.6* I was pleasantly surprised by this bc usually after a weekend like I had I'm up a few more lbs. I have been guzzling water tho to counter act the water retention from sodium. Guess it's helping! I'll continue to guzzle water. Going in for a progress visit tomorrow can't wait for my measurements. My last progress visit was in January. Work out included a 3.3 mile walk, 1.66 mile walk, and I did my Slim in 6 Burn it Up video. I added 10 lb free weights and used those for arm work.

5/30 *137.4* Walked 2.18 miles and did Sworkit Full body Strength for 30 min ***NSV - My waist (belly button) is down 6.5" from 1/18/17 when it was 38" Woo Hoo!!! I lost a total of 13" from my waist since 6/2/16 (44.5").

5/31 *137.2* Cycle starts one week from today.

6/1 *136.6* walked 2.55 miles. 30 min full body strength sworkit. I ate a vanilla creme filled donut. It was so good.

Down 1.4 in the last 10 days. I'll take it ☺️

    05/23 150.6
05/24 150.6 I resisted the break room donuts by picturing cockroaches crawling all over them. One of them may have been filled with Boston Cream filling.
05/25 149.8 See what happens when you picture cockroaches crawling on food!?!?!?!
05/26 147.6. This seems too good to be true. I was even afraid to log it. The scale actually said 147.2. I usually get down to 148.6 and sabotage myself, so this really blows me away. I haven't been below 148 in years. Yesterday I drank a lot of water and walked a lot. I stayed within my calorie goal. My back is still tender, so I'm resting it. Yesterday was also my son's 12th birthday. I only had the slightest bite of cake.
05/27 148.6. I had some salty food last night. Today I'm going on a 5 mile hike. My family is gone on a fishing trip so I can spend the weekend eating the right foods without worrying about anybody else.

05/28 148.6 I did the hike, cleaned, and drank lots of water. I was waaaaaay under my calorie goal, but no change today. I bet I'll see another change in the scale soon. Today will be another great day. I'm going to the gym after church and will spend time in the kitchen preparing healthy foods for next week. My grape vine is doing really well, so I'll make dolma. I've also been cleaning and organizing. I've heard there's research behind clean, organized homes and fit people. : )

05/29 150 I ate and drank too much last night and got sick. My body doesn't like rich foods anymore, and I wasn't mindful of what was going into my mouth. My host was a professional chef from Sardinia, and I felt that I needed to try everything otherwise I was missing out. I ended up spending the whole next day on the couch and in the bathroom. : (

05/30 148.8 Back to my plateau weight. I hope I can break through this. QUICK! START ANOTHER 10 DAYS!!!
    05/31 148.8. Plateau
    06/01 148.8

    What is TOM?

Haha @ehseeker TOM is...in layman's terms, (time of the month) referring to a female menstrual cycle.

OMG! I'm so focused on exercise, diet, etc, I figured it was something extreme like PRX ... LOL

his is so good for me mentally - knowing others are also working to reach goals and sharing about it - and physically - keeps me working towards getting in better shape. I'm starting at 150, my goal is to reach 148, or less, after the next 10 days. Here we go!

05/23 150 Have a Chia Seed pudding chilling in the fridge: 1/2 cup 2% milk, 1 c water, 1/3 c chia seeds, 1 scoop quest chocolate milkshake protein powder. Been seeing these sorts of concoctions for a while so thought I'd give it a go. Low cal, carbs and high protein. This amt should be good for 3 servings. Entertaining my sweet tooth.

05/24 149.2 Yeah!!! I've been hovering around 150 - 152 for a month and finally broke thru. Now to head to 148. At 71 years losing is more challenging for me then when I was younger - it is for all of us. Avoiding processed foods and sugar just makes me feel better and even if it takes 'til the end of the year to reach goal, so be it.

05/25 149.8 I will celebrate the fact I'm still under 150 and accept the elevator ride that seems to be my body's weight. Had some wine last night so maybe water? Worked with trainer yesterday, my last one for the package I bought, sob, but will continue on as I had my second knee replacement in Dec and need to have the muscles supporting legs/ hips, etc strong. Last night while falling asleep, I was thinking how long it has taken me, since late February, to lose 13 pounds. I'm only averaging a pound a week despite weight training 3x week, 6 days of cardio a week and keeping below goals for cals and carbs. Looked at that way it seems an awfully stingy loss rate. Then, I realized something. 2 more pounds and I'm at 50% of my weight loss goal. Yeah me! Perspective is so important.

05/26 149.6 45 min on ellip and way under on cals, a little on carbs. Feeling good in the body. Know what I mean? Feel stronger and lighter. Not so much gut. LOL Today is gym day. Have appts so may not get in ellip. We'll see. I wish everyone a successful day filled with self loving choices. One of mine? Egg whites with a tbsp of cheese for flavor. Maybe some hot sauce. :) Life is good.

05/27 150.2 Not bad considering I blew it on carbs yesterday. Nothing junky but someone gave me some honey mangoes - unbelievably good and then a hot dog with most of the bun. Confession is good for the soul. :) Weight training but got in no elliptical yesterday- too busy and tired from phlebotomy to reduce iron levels. Today, at least an hour on ellip is in my future as well as some pre-planning meals so I stay in range for carbs. Netflix has some exercise/dance, etc videos streaming. I might check those out.

05/28 149.2 Yeah! Ate really clean yesterday, stayed well within goals and walked on track at Community Center 2.5 miles. Feeling really good about it all.

05/29 149.2 Waaattt??? Seriously upped my workout on elliptical and well below goals, all clean food. I'm counting half a bottle of stella artois here. Almost a week and not even a pound. Come on, universe! Today's another day.

05/30 148.6 Yes! Maybe it takes a couple days to see benefits of upping exercise. My NSV: my son baked a cherry pie and I resisted! I had one small bite. I looked at it and thought 'It's not worth getting on the scale tomorrow and having it go up." I have to say that limiting flour and sugar has made me feel better.

05/31 149 did water aerobics yesterday - fun - as well as steak and corn on the cob. The steak I kept to 3.5 oz but ate the whole ear of corn. Soooo good. Blew the carbs but as the saying goes 'I regret nothing.'

06/01 148 Yahooooo! This was my goal for this round. Ate clean and under on goals, weight training and 45 on elliptical. Today, a nature hike/walk. Kudos to all of you who work jobs and are still making time to work out. Fantastic.
