So I know there is no right answer to this question, everyone is different and something is better than nothing, so here is my question..

Just out of curiosity. ...how many calories do you burn in a work out?

I know there are so many types of work out plans and what not...I've been getting 350-400 in 45 mins to an hour, I am just getting into the gym and I know some people do that in 20 mins...I'm just curious to see others calorie burns :)

I usually burn 200-800 calories (the higher end would be longer runs).

Depends on my workout. 300ish on cardio and 500ish on weights.

That sounds like you are on par for a typical workout. Just depends on what results you are trying to achieve. When I am training at my max I typically burn 1000-1200 calories in a 60 minute workout. Just do what works and increase incrementally. Keep it up!

My hilly terrain hikes of 90 minutes or so are about 330 calories.

Anywhere from 200 for a quick morning workout before an early meeting, to 1000+ for long bike rides or hikes.

Typically in the 300-500 kcal range most days. But I stack multiple activities so I wind up with 600-1000 kcal exercise burns total.

Weight loss is the goal!! Will be adding in some weights, unfortunately running for anything more than literally 1.5 -2 mins is not an option (I have some pretty intense lung issues) anyways. .I do what I can and push as hard as I can, and I am sure in time I will be able to go a little harder, but lungs arnt going to " heal" the damage is done...but I am sure there will be some pick up in step after some weight comes off...I'm by far "handicapped " but I do have my limitations...

Thanks for all the answers..it's interesting to see what others can accomplish

I think we all have workouts that *feel* that way.

0 - 1000+, the latter is rare and is usually from long hikes. Around 800 on long run days, and an average of about 200-400 on non long run days when not sick.

Last weekend: 1,500 kCal cycling 40 miles in 2 and a half hours. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1765279620

More on weekends that involve unpaved roads, here's 1,900 kCal for only 50 miles: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1665957786

Yesterday it was just 349 kCal, I was limited on time.

It depends a lot on your body size and the intensity of the workout.

When lifting weights for an hour i burn anywhere from 175 to 200 calories.
When i'm instructing a High Intensity Cardio class I burn between 400 and 425 in an hour.
(This is like 160-180 HR continuous training)

Today 459 calories cycling 65 minutes and walking 5 miles
Yesterday 551 running 30 minutes and cycling 20 minutes and walking 4 miles

All outside, I hate being in doors.

Tomorrow and Sunday are my main work out days. Monday is the only rest day but I still walk 5 miles.

Just keep up the hard work. You need to train to your bodies abilities. What one person considers a hard workout might be someone else's warm up. Listen to your body, set goals and just keep working.

    That sums it up well.

Your snag with asking a question like this is understanding what sort of session people are doing, and how they're measuring their calorie expenditure.

As a runner I'll burn c100 calories per mile on the flat, so with sessions ranging from 3 miles to 20 miles that's a pretty broad range.

I would be sceptical of most people claiming rates of more than 400 per 30 minutes as a matter of routine. It's very easy to use the tools inappropriately and significantly overestimate as a result.

Exercise is good but not the answer to weight loss or health. https://www.ketovangelist.com/the-ketogenic-diet/ read about it. As you get into it, you will find that you have been given false information about many things.

I have no idea. Most of my workouts are actual work - yard/garden work - I don't know how to measure it.

It's variable because my rides vary from sprint intervals to hill repeats to tempo rides to long endurance rides to time trial racing, etc...it just depends.

You don't need keto for weight loss, just a calorie deficit - CICO.

I agree 100%...I did the keto thing through a dr supervised deal, ultimate fail for me...I have had GREAT results with CICO...however .....when I get to a particular weight I always think "hey I got this" and slack on tracking calories and gain a bunch back....because I gain 10 then I get discouraged and frustrated ....then I gain 10 more and then after that it's fck it...then 10 more I think wtf am I doing and I start all over...and it's not that I intentionally over eat..it's just I'm not tracking what I'm eating so my ci are higher than co...i guess my point is....cico is the solution for me....it's just have to realize that I will be counting calories for life...and I am ok with that if it means not starting all over....again

Don't know. Doesn't matter. If I lose weight too fast, I'll eat a little more, if I lose weight too slow, I'll eat a little less.

Bit of a wide range - I get 231 for an hour of strength training and 4500 for a 9 hour cycle ride.
I've been getting 350-400 in 45 mins to an hour
    Doing what? How measured/estimated?
I am just getting into the gym and I know some people do that in 20 mins.
Is their name Pinocchio by any chance? Watch their noses very carefully...

Or maybe they are world class athletes, maybe.

I do 20 mins on elliptical which gives me about 200 and the treadmill gives me about 150 for 30 mins...(keep in mind I am heavy so I burn more calories) there was a gal on the treadmill ahead of me today, and she had 305 for 30 mins on the treadmill...granted she was running pretty much the whole 30 mins...and she's not the 1st one I've seen do that...I don't think it's that uncommon

Ah OK that's more reasonable - those numbers are very different to 350 - 400 in twenty minutes though!

By the way "comparison is the thief of joy", there's always someone faster/fitter/stronger.....
Or in my case - younger! ;)
