bruised spine

A few weeks ago I was noticing some discomfort on the center part of my spine, mainly after doing crunches or a lot of hip-hop dancing. Basic stretching has helped, but this week the pain has increased and now my spine is visibly bruised like I banged it against the corner of a wall or something. Touching it hurts. I feel like I pulled a muscle. Bending down hurts. What on Earth did I do? Is it possible for your spine to bruise from exercise?

Sounds like you did some damage and should have your back checked out by the specialists. I have back problems that have me using a cane and having times that My legs will give out on me.
You may have nothing wrong BUT you never know. By the way I also worked on the Ambulance Squad for 5 years.:flowerforyou:0 -
I did some research and crunches can cause brusing. I usually do 1000 crunches 5 times a week. I think I'll take a week off from the crunches and see if that makes a difference.0

If you're doing that many crunches on a hard surface, your spine will definitely see some bruising. Once it heals, try to find a more cushioned surface (fluffier carpet, a yoga mat, etc.) and crunch away!0
