How do I?

Change MFP to add the calories burned into its calculation. I think I original opted out of this but now don't know how to ad it back in. When I burn calories I want them to be added to the total for the day. I'm not trying to 'eat' all my exercise calories but want it so there is an accurate reflection of how my body is losing weight. Thanks!

What I don't want is to have MFP say I haven't reached my calorie goal but 50 when I know I've burned several hundred in cardio on a particular day. There must be a way that it can incorporate those into the daily tally?0

I don't think you can "opt out" ...you may have entered an amount of calories the first time you used an exercise entry and it remembers that. You can manually change any calorie number on any exercise.0

Right, but I thought there was a setting that added those burned calories to the daily max?0

Maybe not0

Once you enter an exercise into the exercise tab, it is added to your goals, so yes.

I think that's a premium feature where you can ignore the calories added. Maybe?
Unfortunately, OP, I'm of no help on this one. I do agree with you that the more accurate your numbers are, the better quality of data, which will help you in transitioning to maintenance once you've accomplished your goals.
ETA: I may have misunderstood the original question. Feel free to ignore me.0 -
Here are the FAQs for the Exercise Diary:

Yeah, I can and do add them under the exercise tab but those burned calories do not then get added to the daily totals. There appears to be no mechanism and maybe it is a 'premium' feature?0

No, I think you have it right nutmeg ;-) in terms of the question.0

If you are a regular member (non-subscription), then the calories should show up.
If you are a premium member, I believe there is an option to ignore added calories. There should be a tab to switch between the two options though. This part I can't help you with.
If you have an activity tracker synced with MFP, then I recommend only adding non-step activities (cycling, swimming, weightlifting, etc) through the tracker, and then let it make your adjustments. I have FitBit synced and I find the two communicate a little wonky when I add activity here. Others have no problems.0 -
Interesting follow up I'm just recognizing that my phone app does add the exercise calories to the daily total but the website version does not??? And further it got the data from the website as that's where I plugged it in. I know they sync to a degree but only one way?? Oh well. Thanks for the feedback!!!0

Enter your exercise in the Exercise area ... then look in the Food area to see that they have been added. Or on your My Home page.0
