Hi im in the first steps to getting the gastric sleeve done i have 4 dr visits one a month to go. Im looking for a before meal plan to help for after any segestions?3

Every program is so different depending where you have your surgery done. The best advice is to do exactly what your doctor and nutritionalist suggest. Good luck to you!1

I just started to join my fitness pal to help me to start losing weight. I have been to the doctor twice now. Still need to see a nutritionalist and a psycologist and then the surgery for gastric sleeve will be done4

Good luck to you! It's a long process but you will be so happy when your on the other side!2

I am two years out from gastric sleeve. Lost 100 pounds. After 18 months cravings all came back. I put 30 pounds back on. Caught myself, went back to dr. Am now taking phentermine and have lost nine pounds this month. Stay away from slider foods....like candy...that do not fill you up and you are able to eat a lot of it. I still have restriction. Just hate the cravings being back. Really do well the first year, as the weight loss will slow down. Get as much out of it as you can. It was the best thing I ever did.6

Hi I'm thinking about gastric surgery as I have approximately 125 lbs. to lose. I don't know if it's right for me because I don't have any support system at home. How bad does the surgery make you feel? Is it very painful? Do you feel sick to your stomach afterwards? I'd love to hear some of your experiences please to help me decide what I'm going to do. Thanks to all who take the time to respond ☺️0

It's such a personal decision. I've had hard days and ups and downs but I do not regret having the surgery. You have to be ready for huge changes. I can't eat fast or very much which gets frustrating at times but also why I'm losing weight. After surgery it was hard for a few days and I was glad my mom was here to take care of me. But one week later I was driving and only on children's Tylenol for pain. Three weeks after surgery I was back at work. If you struggle with your weight this is a great tool but not the easy way out at all.3

Have struggled with my weight for yrs. Last August i was at 270 now at 237, my weight always goes up and down but i seem to now be making better choices and have stayed under 240 for a few months, have recently recovered from a sprained ankle that kept me less active but starting to do a lil cardio now, just what my ligaments can tolerate. My Dr says ill benfit from a gastric sleeve since ive been able to keep my weight in control. This month ill have completed 3 visits with nutritionist and surgery is scheduled for September but kind of anxious and nervous at the same time. Its something i really want to do ,i am a 34 yr old single mother of 4 ranging from 18yrs to 3yrs i have my childrens support and my families and that of my x husbands thou now my 4 yr relationship ended and alot had to do with my decision to continue with my weight loss and his insecurities from it. The surgery is something i really think i will benefit from not just for myself but for my children but sometimes everything before it seems overwhelming....anyone feel free to add me, can really use the support!2

Hi. I'm in the process of having gastric bypass done. I have seen the doctor, psychologist, and dietician. I have to see the dietician 5 more times, once a month. I also have an appt with a cardiologist this month. I already use a cpap so I don't have to have a sleep study done. I am doing deep water aerobics and strength training 6 days a week. I have to lose 38 lbs before my insurance will cover the surgery. So far I'm down by 2 lbs. I started at 382 and am 397.8 now, I have to get down to around 350 lbs. I'm looking for motivation and support from ppl going through what I am or already have. Please friend me I don't know how...lol...1

I had the RNY March 2007 at the age of 45. My weight at that time was 234. Within a year I was down to 130 but looked very anorexic. I moved away from my doctor 6 months later and did not follow up or monitored. At about 3 years in I slowly started gaining weight back. I found a Dr. where I moved to who will follow me and monitor. 10 years out, today I have gained with my weight back up to 180. Working hard now to slowly lose weight and become more active. My doctor reassures me that if you still have 50% of your weight off after 5 years you are considered a success. I do not feel like a success because of the weight I gained back. I am now actively trying to manage my food intake and exercise. Hopefully I will get back to around 145. I feel that it will be my "feel good" weight.2

I had the vertical Sleeve back in October of 2014. Highest weight was 302. 288 at surgery and down 120 pounds. It was the best decision I have made. I started logging my meals from the first introductory session and continue to this day 970 day streak. I have been focused on my fitness, ran two 5K's and work out 5 days a week. This is life changing. The surgery is just a tool and a commitment to a sustainable lifestyle consisting of diet and fitness will ensure success. If available take advantage of support groups and also the support of a psychologist as surgery does not take care of the head. good luck on your journeys.2

I just got approved and have gastric bypass RYN scheduled for July 10!2

Hey everyone feel free to add me for lots of support. I had roux en y gastric bypass with gallbladder removal on 6/20. Just a few days ago I was crying because I was in such bad pain following the surgery and now I'm crying about my husband giving away maple bacon and other foods that don't fall into our diet plan! It's been such an adjustment process but it really is life changing even preparing to have this surgery. I started out at 321 and by surgery morning I was down to 268. My husband asked me why I couldn't just keep losing without the surgery and I simply told him that for me it has never stayed off of my body and that I wanted to permanently change something to prevent these problems from occurring ever again. Once and for all I will be the hot mom who brings all of the kids to the theme park while blasting Disney tunes and 90s pop music like ... It's gunna be me! My girls will not learn my bad eating habits now. Haha!!!!2

I have a question. How can you use MyFitness Pal when you have had gastric bypass or any other weight reduction surgery? It doesn't allow you all the features if you go below 1,000 cals per day.1
-
I would also like to know why doctors recommend low calorie restriction following weight reduction surgery but don't recommend that to someone without undergoing the surgery. Can't a person just try to eat the same dietary recommendations and lose weight that way before they submit to the surgery itself?0

Hello All,
I had gastric bypass Jan 2015, weighed 527lbs. Currently 317. It's been a struggle. Diagnosed with Uterine Cancer last year, treatment didn't work. Had to have total hysterectomy. Didn't have kids but hoped to be able after losing weight. Well that didn't work out. So aside from still recovering from WLS, I was dealing with emotional and physical distress oh and early onset of Menopause (I'm 37) because of surgery. But i am Cancer Free but still struggling with weight loss. Regardless of everything I've gone through I still maintained my positive optimistic attitude. It does help. I've pretty much platod at 317. So I'm back here trying to restart my weightless plan. I've maintained so far but now need to amp up the exercise regimen and start losing again.3 -
Hi, I had gastric bypass on the 28th of June and am down from my highest weight of 242 on the first of June to 185 today with a goal of 125lbs. I am looking for people on here who on going through the same journey. I decided to start journaling my food because I am sure I am not always getting enough protein in. Also did anyone experience hair loss? I haven't yet and am wondering when that starts if it does.0

Hello all, I had gastric bypass performed on the 11th of this month. I've waited quite a while to have it done. I'm glad I did. I was able to lower my A1c, to a pre-diabetic level, before the surgery. I dropped 18lbs during the liver shrinking diet and as of last week, my initial blood levels were normal. That, coupled without having to take most of the medication, has been a great relief. I became aware of just how bad I felt when I received a good bill of health. I assume I'll have mini epiphanies similar to that. I'm motivated and can see a clear path to achieving good health. I have no regrets unless you count the profound annoyance that I'm not going to get to eat for comfort, or for volume. If anyone has advice and experience about how to avoid pitfalls, build good habits and general info/advice, I would appreciate it. I, very much, look forward to getting to meet some of you.5

This is what I would like to know, as well. I had my surgery (gastric bypass) on 9/21. Would love to see how you all use mfp to your advantage.
