I know when I had braces that the first few days after each tightening I would eat soft foods. Cut up chicken and rice. After that I was able to eat anything I wanted (minus the popcorn which was super sad times).

Try smoothies! You can blend all kinds of nutrients up in those, and the cold will probably help with some of your soreness.

I'm actually going through this with my 13 yr old also (whenever they tighten the braces) we resort to some of these healthy options:

    Low fat cottage cheese
    hummus
    avocado
    mango
    watermelon
    baked or boiled sweet potato
    beans
    quinoa or rice

Good Luck! Hope you feel better

I definitely know how you feel about braces! I've had them for almost two years now. I will be getting the off soon!

When I first got my braces, all I ate was soups, smoothies, and pretty much anything soft. However, within a couple weeks or so, my braces weren't painful anymore and I started eating whatever. Peanuts, steaks, you name it!
