So I used to be very athletic as a youth but have since had a Sedimentary job for the past 5 years. This plus "life" has added some weight. I work till late and travel an hour and a half one way to work. What are some suggestions or tips that you all have used that aided in your weight loss journey when facing these ruts. (33yr old Male with very healthy eating habits. poor sleeping habits, and hardly have to time to hit the gym as much as I KNOW I should)

Since it sounds like you're super busy, I think the most efficient way to lose weight would be to take a closer look at your diet. You mention you're eating very healthy, but even so, you might be eating slightly more than you should be given your activity level, leading to the slow weight gain you describe. I'd recommend just committing to a week or two of food logging -- see exactly how many calories you're usually eating, and try to be disciplined about logging everything you eat. Compare that to the estimate a TDEE calculator gives you on how many calories you burn, and pick a calorie deficit that you can meet through some small changes (e.g. maybe you want to do -300 cals/d, so cut out carbs at dinner and replace with veggies). Sleeping more and exercising more are good for your health, but making dietary changes alone is totally fine for weight loss (arguably it's a requirement).

the easiest way to lose some weight is going to be through calorie deficit..

I would suggest setting MFP to .5 or 1 pound per week loss and eating to that number. I would also suggest getting a food scale and weighing out all your portions; log everything accurately; make sure that you are using correct MFP database entries; and find a form of exercise that you enjoy.
