I like these articles - although I highly recommend coconut water over sports drink. sports drinks either have tons of sugar, or tons of chemical sweetener and coconut water has TONS of potassium.

Good article. However, as a nutrition student I would say aim for 8 glasses of water a day. Also, I've been taught by other Registered Dietitians that thirst is a very poor indicator for staying hydrated; thirst usually indicates you're on your way to dehydration. A book I've really enjoyed (but have not yet finished) is "The Seven Pillars of Health" by Dr. Don Colbert, MD, PhD. The first pillar is water and he paints an excellent picture as to how important water is to our bodies and health.

Great article- though I agree with the part about thirst not always being a great indicator of hydration status. I'm sending to some friends - thanks for posting!
