Hello people
M stay at home mum and planning to meet my family in October....first time since after my baby's birth. That gives me 4 months from now. I have managed to control my comfort eating and have got my calories under control. So now it's exercise.
I can't go to gym so trying to find out home work out ideas.
Would really appreciate any realistic ideas and suggestions that I can follow while taking care of a 4 month old. Thanking you guys in advance !

Depends what it is you're wanting to do exercise wise. Cv, resistance, both?

Firstly, congratulations on your new baby!

I'm enjoying working out at home with free weights with Joyce Vedral's exercise book. She has a bunch of them... mine is from '93, but she puts out about a book/yr through '17 & most are pennies only for a used book on Amazon or half.com.

All you need is a few weights, 1/2/3 lbs, 2 of each. You can find them all under $5 at Ross', TJ Maxx, Walmart & other discount stores. Walmart often has them on sale. Sometimes 2nd hand stores have them, as well. Also, you can use 2 soup cans, with rubberbands around them for grip, as a substitute for the 1-lb weights.

FYI, I just began a couple of wks ago & am using 2/4/5/10 lb weights. For weight loss, I use her exercises, but do them to fast music for a simultaneous cardio workout. Here are her books:

BTW, she also has video clips online. I don't use them as I'm not wild about them, but in the beginning, when having trouble with technique, it has helped. If you're not interested in weights, she also has other types of workouts.

I also like yoga & find Bryan Kest's classes to be the best. Full 1-hr vids are on YTube:

Good luck & have fun with the baby & enjoy meeting with the family!

Something that will help get my stomach to where it was before the baby. So I would say strengthening my core.
Since last week I have been doing treadmill for half an hour daily and go out for a 45 min walk with the baby.

    Thank you Pat
I have weights and everything here but trust me just half an hour treadmill becomes so difficult sometimes taking care of baby needs.
I will definitely look for the books though!

Sure, I can imagine. Walking for 45-min with the baby, like you're doing, is great. Tightening the tummy takes a bit of time. My sister used to walk holding the baby in front of her in one of those slings, rather than pushing a stroller... her doctor told her carrying the extra 10-lbs would help her to lose weight faster. She also did isometric stomach exercises while walking. After the baby's birth, she dropped 20-lbs within 1-mo & it took 3 more to lose the last 10. Give yourself time. Whatever you're doing will work, but your body's just gone through a major event, so don't forget to be patient with yourself.

BTW, the books should be available at your local library. Do what you can, whether yoga, weights, jumping about to music... 10-min here, 10-min there. I don't have a baby & that's how I do it. Sometimes I just squeeze in a quick bit of cardio or weights & return to it hours later. It all adds up.

Have a great weekend! Enjoy your walk today!

I recommend you to buy a spin bike for your home. I recently read an article on Harvard publications where they concluded that spin bikes are much better when it comes to losing calories. So instead of treadmills, for such exercising bikes. Also, you can take some time to run for just 20 minutes daily in the morning. This will help you keep your weight in check.
