Someone stole my bike today. Canny believe it. I left it outside a supermarket, with the bike chain attached onto one of those metal poles for parking bikes. I was literally inside the store for just over 5 mins

Came out, bikes gone but the padlock thing is still attached to the pole, locked onto the pole. How exactly did they manage to free my bike ? And then re attach the lock to the pole ? Iv called the police so hoping I get it back. It's not even a good bike ! They cost like £100 new..... definitely put me off leaving my bike in the town

Sorry to hear that. I had the same thing happen back when I was in college. Took a brand new bike & left the chain still locked up.

That really sucks...I had my bike stolen once too. I do wonder how they got it out of the lock, I don't know that much about bikes but sometimes you see people lock their bikes up but remove a wheel and presumably take it with them. I wonder if they were able to disassemble your bike some how?

I don't think so V, my bike was in the middle of a busy street & I was literally away for a few minutes so they didn't have time or privacy to disassemble it. The only thing I can think of, well my boyfriend thinks they have guessed the combination lock. It's like 5 digits, & tbh I didn't spin it round many times before i left it, so perhaps they got lucky.

The police called me back, they are scanning the cctv so I hope it's someone who is known to the police and I get it back. Tbh it's not even the fact the bike is gone, it was a cheap bike. But it was my bike! I can't stand thieves so I just hope the police catch the bugger. Buy your own bloody bike !! I will definitely be investing in a top quality lock in future

This is where I wish Karma was a thing. Or an eye for an eye or something. I rage sometimes at injustice!

They have no fear of people around them when they do this. Most people don't pay attention enough to notice that they are doing something wrong. It takes less than two minutes to crack the average bike lock & to the average person passing by, they just assume it's someone trying to unlock their own bike. Thieves know this, so they don't even worry about it & they have preplanned excuses if someone does say anything.

I just google on 'how to steal a locked bike'. The videos show it takes about ten seconds to hack a four digit bike lock. I will be using a key bike lock from now forward.

So sorry! I would be devastated if someone stole any of my babies. Always use a key U lock and make sure you lock the bike frame to the rack and not just a wheel.

We had all of our family bikes stolen off of our front porch.... Except mine! The funny part is the rest were everyday mountain bikes -easy to obtain and affordable- mine is actually valuable, but because it is "old" they failed to realize this! The worst part is that they broke our wooden banister that yhr bikes were chained to to grab quickly! Costly repair! I now keep my bike inside!

"should we take grandma's bike? Naw leave it here, she may need it if the horse and buggy breaks down."
