Hi ladies, I'm 35 years old and 145 pounds after having 2 kids. I'm only 4'11" and need to loose 30 pounds. I know that everybody is different so I'm trying to get the closest average time by asking those that are around my age and gender. Thank you guys!

Hi I am not within your stats but, if you break down your goal you will get a reasonable estemate.
Because of your height and weight the first 15 lbs could be lost at 1 lbs a week however, the last 15 lbs will be at .5 lbs a week and maybe less as you get close to your goal. There isn't enough of you to lose any faster.
So 45 weeks is a reasonable time span.
I know, it sounds a long time when you read that some people can lose twice as much in that time frame, remember they are generally coming from a higher weight, or have more to lose overall.
Your calorie goal will be low so make sure you eat back exercise calories.
You need the extra fuel.
Cheers, h.3 -
I'm 34 years old and I've lost 32lbs in 97 days.0

And I'd guess you had a lot more than 30 lbs to lose? Whatever your starting weight, that is very aggressive and not a typical example.
OP it took me a year to lose 20 lbs, but to be fair they were vanity lbs so slower than typical. Age really has nothing to do with speed of loss, it's pretty much a myth that it gets harder to lose weight as you get older.
I'd second the pace @middlehaitch posted. And honestly, try not to put a time limit on getting to a particular weight. Take some time to play around with your diet and find a way of eating that you enjoy and that satisfies you at the correct calories. Once you have that figured out, not only will you reach your goal but you'll be much less likely to gain any back. Good luck!2 -
A year1

Looking back at my progress, i've lost about 20lbs in 6 months....and here I was thinking I was going slow and taking forever!
It felt like a long slow process, and I was losing before that (I tracked food, just didn't track progress anywhere). If I remember correctly, my highest weight was about another 15lbs above, and I started trying to lose weight about a year ago.0 -
I was on pace to lose 30lbs (going from 156 to 126 @ 5'3") in 7 months, but I just went on a 2 week vacation that set me back about 6lbs. I will probably now hit 30lbs lost in around 8 or 9 months.0

It's gonna take me a whole year. No joke. Ugh!!!!0

Aggressive or accidental. I had 50 pounds to lose. I set myself up to lose 1 pound/week but was dramatically underestimating my activity level (because the descriptions here are horrible for anyone with an active life) so lost 30 pounds in 3 months before I was able to figure out the right intake to slow my loss to 1 pound/week. (Admittedly, I figured it out a little faster than that - but had a hard time believing that I really burned that much. So, it might be more accurate to say it took me 3 months to figure out and trust the math.)
Unless you have a *lot* of weight to lose, 1 pound/week is a reasonable estimate. You might lose a bit faster near the beginning, but it's best to slow down to 0.5 pounds/week for the last 10-20 pounds.
I'm 41.0 -
I joined this site over a year ago to lose the 30lb I had gained back. I'm still 8lb away from original goal.
I have changed my goals at points though along the way with regards to fitness and had periods of muscle gain. This has made it a longer process than it likely would have been otherwise
I'm 37, a mom, and have Hashimoto's thyroiditis0 -
It took me about 4 months but I had almost 100 pounds to lose and a baby birth kickstarted it. Also breastfeeding my baby burns sooooo many calories for me that I can eat very close to maintenance calories and lose roughly 1-1.5 pounds a week with only very light activity. I'm 5'3.5" tall.
Also I agree with SusanMFindlay - sometimes it's hard to trust the math. It took me quite a while to realize I could eat much more than I expected and still lose at a significantly speedy rate. I continue to keep upping my calories to bring my rate of weight loss down to a healthier amount. I actually increased it again today because my loss rate is increasing instead of decreasing. So sometimes fat loss math is tough to trust. It's there, I understand it, but it's still difficult to trust it.0 -
32, 1 kid, 5'6" and about 100 lbs to lose. It took me about 2 months to drop 30, but I started at a high weight. The first 15 practically fell off.3

I'm 33, 5'7" I started At 180lbs, after four babies, and my goal at the time was 145lbs, I'm currently within about 5 lbs of that goal and it's been a year. I stopped trying to lose over the holidays and ended up gaining some of it back. So I lost some of that weight twice. Now that I'm so close to my original goal, I'm have a hard time deciding if I want to stick to my goal, or change it again. I'm tired of being in a deficit, but I'd love to see more definition to some of the muscles I've worked so hard for.0

6 months to lose 40lbs for me. But it was an unconscious effort. No one really says it on here, but stopping drinking last December is making the weight just melt off me0
-
Not there yet. Im 36 with 2 injuries that led to my weight gain (back and rotator). Started at the Gym and logging food around March 20th, 2017 at 172.5lbs (I'm nearly 5'7). As of today I'm 149 lbs. I follow a 2lb per week deficit, but take weekends off exercise entirely (so I go over the 1200 in allowed), but adhere to my deficit Monday through Friday in both diet and exercise. I spend several hours per day on strength and cardio, but focus on strength. I don't cut any foods like carbs or any special diet. I eat organic like I always did, keep white flours and sugars out, and eat more proterin (mostly vegetarian through black beans, edamame, avocado, etc) and drink tons of water.
That's given me about 22 lbs since mid-March thus far. And I've maintained muscle through strength training and sipping BCAAS during workout days with an occasional protein shake. But I hope to be at 30 lbs total by mid July.0 -

Yes! I forgot the alcohol. I love red wine, but cut it to "once in awhile" and have learned to use low calorie "clears" like vodka mixed with Fresh herbs from our garden and muddled berries as a mixer to enjoy cocktails and alcohol without accidentally slamming hundreds of calories. And when you eliminate common mixers like juice, sugar, etc...you eliminate hangovers and dehydration, too (thank you early years as a bartender!!) Beer is first to go. Sweet wines and anything but dry Reds next (Cabernet is OK at 1 serving per day).
Mixing fresh berries, lime, mint, and club soda with an unflavored vodka or gin is your best bet if you like a solid drink.0 -

Thats a great approach if you drink.... Bit hard to stop something you rarely do1 -
It's taken me 5 months to lose 11kg (almost 25lbs). Which has felt like forever but actually seems like a pretty decent rate, on reflection.0
-
I lost 12kg in 4 months last year then I fell pregnant and picked up 12kg. I lost that 12kg and 1.6kg extra within 14 weeks.0
-
Last year I lost 25 lbs and it took me about 5 months. I stI'll have about 20 to go. I'm 5'6", 36 years old, currently 165 lbs. The remaining 20 will probably take a year or more.0
-
20 pounds down in 6 months. I think I still have 20 to go (it honestly could be more but I plan on stopping about 140# and recomping). Some months I don't lose and some months I lose 6 pounds.0
-
I'm 34yrs and I've lost 28lbs in 6 months. It's nice to know I'm not alone0
-
FOREVERRRR! Actually it only seemed like it. 30 lb was maybe ... 6-8 months? The next 20 took at least as long :P
FWIW, I'm 39 and 6'. Currently 175.0 -
Totally depends on how much you have to lose. My first 30 lbs? 5 months. The last 10 I lost? 6 months. The last 10 I have to lose? Been going on 3 years.2
-
Two months. And yes in total I had about 80-90 to lose. Now I have about 60 ish to go. I'm still losing about 2-3 lbs per week. I'm 410
-
I don't remember exactly but it took me about 18m to lose 800
-
With your stats I'd give yourself a year0
-
Took me about 2.5 months to lose 30 lbs, but I started at 190 at 5'2". I'm now down to 144, and it's taken around 6 months total to lose 46 lbs total. Things DEFINITELY slow down the closer you get to your goal.0
-
It depends entirely on how much you have to lose. For someone around your height and weight i'd say a good 6-7 months atleast.1
-
Am 4'10 and 165lbs how long will it take me to lose 45lbs...I exercise and I stick to the 1200 calories per day0
-
I lost in my 30s (I'm 52 now). I was 5'6" and about 160. I started on Jan 1, and was at 130 by mid April.0
