I'm so disappointed! My first week of counting calories and didn't loose a pound! I'm following the plan of how many calories to consume daily and even went a little under on each day! What am I doing wrong? So frustrating!

    1. Patience.
    2. Eat at your calorie goal.
    3. Use a food scale for solids and semi solid foods.

Do you try to go for walks, or do any activities throughout the day?

Weight loss takes time and isn't linear. Some weeks you'll lose a lb, some weeks you won't, some weeks you might even gain a lb. You are looking for a long term trend over time. Be patient, log accurately.

Why isn't it linear? Or at least why isn't it semi linear? The science of it is for every 2000-2500 calories you burn in excess of what you take in, you should lose a pound. I understand a little water retention, but the science in it seems very linear to me.

Exactly that, water weight. I'm two pounds over what I weighed last week, but I'm also currently going through TOM. If you read the thread I linked above, you'll see the reasons behind that. And it's 3500 calories burned to lose a pound of fat.

You spent a whole week counting calories, being aware of your food intake and making better choices. I would call that a WIN. Stop waiting for the scales to tell you if you're good enough. It takes 6 weeks for you to stick to new changes and 12 weeks for everyone else to see those changes.
Eyes on the prize and don't stop till you get there.

well, if you're female, hormones come into it as well, and to make things even more annoying, the effect of hormones is very individual. in my case, I'd "plateau" or even gain a pound over two weeks or so, then suddenly drop 2 or 3 in a day. Overall the trend was still about 1 lb (0,5 kg) loss/week, it just didn't happen by the clock every week. And, of course, to figure out just how your hormonal cycle affects you, you really need to stick with it for a few months before drawing any conclusions.
