Tummy issues while eating whole foods

Around a month ago i switched from a lowish carb ie. Around 60-70g, high protein diet full of heavily processed foods to majority whole foods such as brown rice, oats, meat, fruits and veg. I enjoy the food i eat now and am less hungry with more carbs ie. 150g but im now experiencing terrible bloating and constipation and its driving me nuts! My stomach looks pregnant and its painful and gurgling all the time
. I changed my eating habits to be healthier and thought it would be more sustainable in the long run however im not sure what's going on. Has anyone else experienced this on a more 'whole foods diet'? Should i persevere or cut my losses and try something else?

Try beano before eating. It works for me! Also make sure to eat slowly and chew thoroughly.0

Beano? Not sure what that is? (Im Australian)0

How much fiber are you getting? That sounds similar to what I experienced when I was eating more than 25-30g of fiber.0

Surely there is an alternative Australian equivalent. But it's a pill you take before you eat that helps with bloating/gas from fibrous foods0

Swap to white rice, eat fibrous vegies (like broccoli, Cauliflower, cabbage) well cooked,or perhaps limit them - also monitor what you eat and how it makes you feel. making sure you get sufficient fat is important too.

How long were you eating low-carb? Your body just may need more adjustment time to get back into a higher-carb diet. As others suggested, too much fiber can cause bowel issues too.
I also have issues with high-carb, so I follow a low-carb diet to avoid all the bloating/gurgling issues that carbs seem to give me.0 -
If you increase fiber too quickly you get symptoms like that. You need to develop the gut biome needed to digest it. I'd increase it more slowly.0

This.
Also, OP, are you getting adequate water?0 -
Sometimes, there's just an adjustment period. Your intestines adjust gut flora based on your diet. The gut flora (bacteria) work on different foods. Your change in diet is a change to the status quo gut flora and you probably don't yet have the correct balance to properly digest these new foods. It should get better over time but will take awhile.0

Thanks for your advice everyone, I think you might be on to something re: fibre content. I will monitor and introduce more slowly from now on. I am making sure I drink at least 2.5L of water to get things moving lol! Thanks again.0
