Just had dental work done, any suggestions for food?

This afternoon I had to pay the piper for neglecting regular dental visits and was at the periodontist for my first of two treatments of "scaling and root planning" and gum grafting. It was not that bad during the procedure, as they doped me up pretty good, but when I got home tonight after work the swelling and pain kicked in. According to the dentist, I have at least a week of not being able to eat food like normal ahead of me. He also does not want me lifting weights as the increase in blood pressure could cause pressure on the sutures and bleeding. The bad part? Today was only the right side of my mouth. In a few weeks, I get round 2 on the left. FML

I was starving when I got home, and just tried to get through some cold mashed potatoes and even that I had to force myself to finish. Anyone else had a similar situation and have any suggestions? I have plenty of Met-Rx Whey on hand to shake up since liquids are no problem, but I obviously can't live on that alone days on end.

I just had the second part done yesterday and it wasn't so bad today. A little lock jaw but its gotten better. Drink motrin and rinse with water and salt. Last night I just had a protein shake LOL Today I was ok.

edit to add: You could also try some yogurt and eggs.

halo top is soft and it has a good amount of nutrition to it. 24g of protein / pint. If you're not up to that maybe small curd cottage cheese?

Scrambled eggs are my go to when I've had dental work done.

UGH I get it done quarterly for the same reason. Only saw the dentist a couple times in my twenties because I've had such horrible experiences. Just got my last crown the other day! Stick with it!

When I need substantial food that's easy to eat, I make protein snakes with whey and banana, cinnamon, and peanut butter. Mmmm. Also oatmeal that is unsweetened/plain, add apples, cinnamon, and optionally a little honey or just use sweeter apples, or oatmeal with pecans/walnuts, cinnamon, and banana. At least those fill you up. Yum!

Make protein shakes. Drinking will be easier than chewing.
    or
I remember cooking chicken and rice, adding some chicken broth, and putting them in the blender.

Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks have added nutrition. I drank those when I had my wisdom teeth out. At first I ate the typical: mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, apple sauce, ice cream, pudding, jello, chicken rice soup, scrambled eggs, etc. I progressed from there to ground turkey and beef, rice, pasta, etc.
